  • Hard News: Game Lorde, in reply to Martin Lindberg,

without having watched the video, can I assume it's some kind of Wendy O'Williams tribute?

if so, nice. if not, for shame Miley.

  • Hard News: Game Lorde,

yeah, I get that - and to be honest I'm not certain what kind of band you could assemble to carry it off, not my problem of course - but I struggle to see how her performance is sustainable on the big stage. and she can't afford to stumble in the way she apparently did on one song. nowhere to hide except behind all that hair.
but then I'm bandcentric and accept that the minimal approach allows for subsequent reinvention. that big aerosmith sound maybe?

nah, on several counts, not the least being that's a shitload of pressure to put on her. she's good, but she's not that good. not yet anyway.

  • Hard News: Game Lorde, in reply to Robyn Gallagher,

oh, I plus one that and then some, although touting The Wasteland as an influence didn't help. she's a teen alright.

what I puzzle over though is that the label has played hide and seek with her for a fair while yet are launching her without having assembled a band. or do they intend to tour her as a biggie sized karaoke act?
then again, they probably don't have a choice, an artist's shelf life isn't what it was.

now this, like bananas, fish and milk, is something I've never got. even as a wee chillun I hated blue jeans. so I've never worn them and never will.
I'm reading John Lydon's autobiography and it seems we have this in common. but as I'm reading John Lydon's autobiography I'm not sure this is a good thing. He's a bit of a twat.
still, I encourage everyone else to fill their boots with blue jeans so I'm left with my choice of polyester slacks.
    mmmm, polyester slacks.

One good apple (and I get the ref, nice)?? Not even…

check Gotta Get Love off Brainstorm

then there’s the track wot I can’t remember off Plan. the common ingredient is brother Alan Osmond, under the magic Mormon undies, the dude was a proper rocker.

also worth checking is the clip with Donny wigging out on his homemade synthesisers. I once yarned with a woman who used to hang with them in Brewster and went to a lot of their parties – seems like they cross pollenated with all and sundry. interesting bunch.

gotta post this clip - the music's not my bag at all, but stick with the video, it's pretty cool...hurrah for Japan.

well, I wasn't in Bristol but I was at that Windsor Castle gig - that too and fro surge at the front was always a pain in the arse. but I don't recall seeing so many moustaches.

always thought the Chills were a way better live act than anything else. most of their recordings make my toes curl in a not good way.

and damn good to see David Eggleton still doing his thing. he was a fairly regular Windsor support act as I recall.

also Russell, mate, ewww, too much information.

ha, well done that man - clearly one hell of a collection you've got.

as far as Unrestful Movements were concerned, the singer was a bloody giant in megaheeled boots - only served to make their scrawny, if loose of limb, drummer look even more emaciated. good night if a little heavy on anti-flying nun banter. we kind of got after the first six or seven put downs.
