  • Hard News: Weekend Warriors,

Well no, but it provides quick summations of counter-spin

    Yes, but best left behind.

I for one, whilst interested in the mildly relevant bits and pieces (the trooper incident has some interest to me) but utterly not interested in much of the rest (whether any of her oddly named children have had sex and who heard who call Obama a sambo) would rather focus on where a McCain admin would take the world I live in, and why am I to think that, given the Ramboistic nonsense of the RNC, it would offer anything better than the last eight years.

  • Hard News: Go Us,

including asking if Kilkenny is fr'real or a Democrat-plant.

    fr'real it seems:

Why did she do it? Kilkenny told The Daily Journal she wanted to offer people information and her experiences. She does not flatter Palin, but she said she did vote for Palin when she ran for city council.

  • Hard News: Weekend Warriors,

But, Angus, thanks for keeping us up on the play.

And it's Bad McCain if he extends the half truth, intended to mislead, about the ebay aircraft to turn a hefty loss into a profit.

  • Hard News: Weekend Warriors,

I wasn't thinking of something as crass as money, but, you know, being an expat perhaps there's something I could send you (although I'm sure you visit often)

And the nagging thought I have is that McCain is still way behind in electoral votes..the bounce, from the various analysis I've seen looks like it's coming from white working class males in states that that were red already..the sort that thinks she's 'hot' y'know.

We can agree on a wager and work out the detail later...trust is a wonderful thing. I do however trust that if I put my faith in McCain wining, it gives Obama a leg up, as I'm forever the pessimist and often happily proved wrong.

  • Hard News: Weekend Warriors,

that offer of a friendly wager is still open :-)

up here in the land of rule-of-law gambling is very illegal (aside of course from the roosters one sees everywhere, which a policeman said are 'just for display' now...oh and the top floor in a hotel that everyone except that police knows is a casino, despite the fact they are seen 'checking' it regularly) so I need to be careful :)

But I am also very open to suggestions.....

  • Hard News: At home with the art-hackers,

Is there anything at all stopping any musician in NZ joining RIANZ?

It's a label's organisation, not musicians. To join one needs to be a recording label or distributor or something related. People don't join as such. You apply and if you fit the criteria you get to join, usually as an associate member. There is also IMNZ which is the indies body. A bunch of us founded it about 2001 when RIANZ was perceived by us to not be representing our interests, although now a IMNZ rep sits on the RIANZ board, a recognition of how important indies are to the local industry.

I think, if you are a member of either RIANZ or IMNZ you get to put forward you acts at no charge..and really, if you are active in releasing music in NZ there is no excuse not to be a member of one of these, and as an indie the latter is the obvious one.
