Google tells me they had something called ‘BackRub’ on Stanford servers in 1996. BackRub? For a search engine? They must have been philosophy grads.
I think BackRub was totally internal, but I do remember using Google on Stanford servers soon after it hit the wild. Made AltaVista look like a pig’s arse.

The $2.6b cut to KiwiSaver subsidies is real. Whatever the growth rate turns out to be, this savings will still exist
"Reduced expenditure" != "savings"
Go and sit on the naughty step for that one.

So why dont those people who shit themselves at the thought of liberalizing society, just F** off and take a good hard look at ..well… themselves
To follow Goldacre's reasoning, they can't by their nature.

Are there more people working at TradeMe than used to work at all the record stores and bookshops that have closed?
No, but there are many people using TradeMe to make a living (or part of one) that had no access to e-commerce before. They're operating as dealers where they would never have had the capital to set up a physical shopfront. With something like TradeMe, it's not just the employees who are affected. And I hardly think that TradeMe is what caused record and bookshops to close, so false equivalence there.

1972 hit
Eurovisionish
According to Wikipedia, they did do Eurovision in 1974 finishing 3rd behind ABBA and some Italian. It must have been traumatic as they broke up in the same year.

Made it! But I'm checking for damage as I type.

Sadly, they never covered Foreigner, but here’s my favorite cover band of all time
Sweet Home Alabama is also worth a look.
