  • Hard News: We interrupt this broadcast ..., in reply to Rich Lock,

    Labour don’t have a hope in hell of getting back in, so I’d prefer to actually vote for something, rather than strategically. Green it is.

    For reasons that may be considered in some circles as equal, but opposite, I concur. The only 'whatever the future' PR campaign I'm buying is the one in which we survive long enough to enjoy it.

    The most important thing in all this is that those who don't want to vote Labour, or National for that matter, still vote.

  • Hard News: On Science, in reply to Bart Janssen,

    Sadly too many administrators now depend on their continued existence so we just have to make the best of them.

    Do we? That seems to be a very strong argument in itself to scrap it. Last I looked 'administration' and 'scientific research' were not synonymous.

    and about how staff had come in after the quake and rescued things like the cosmetics customer loyalty cards, for heavens sake.

    That's... heartbreaking? The thought of customers coming to that counter and the staff pulling out their loyalty card is quite incredible in the circumstances. I imagine they'll need a box of tissues. It's just so... Yeah, that.

    The P Jacksons of Nantucket
    Had an incontinent consonant bucket
    The words they inverted
    Were often perverted
    Not unpleasant per se, just... oh fcuk it.

    I just posted about this on Facebook, only I misspelled it, and then I pointed out my misspelling and in doing so misspelled misspelling.

    So was it an added consonant or just the straight 'ti' inversion?

    Are those helium balloons supposed to represent their policies?.

    Heh, in the Sandringham Festival, Labour had the only Helium balloons. The National ones came with strings attached, lacked buoyancy, immediately deflated and ended up on the rubbish heap.

    Just sayin'.

    Hi
    ;-)

    Hey, you smiled and waved, which seemed par for the course in the circumstances.

    Back Benches

    It was indeed a scrabble-y affair.

    My interactions with the crowd of politicised future hopes consisted of;
    "Hey Djokovich, nicely played."
    and a young man who every time I walked past said;
    "I love you man."

    I was filled with hope and... give me strength.

    I have to commend the hosts in maintaining a level of control amidst the rabble though. Especially the night after one of them became a father. Well done.

  • Speaker: Doing the right thing on retirement,

    Attachment

    Listening to Goff on bFM the other day he made a comment about a discussion with a 20 something about bothering with Kiwisaver when you're earning $27,000 per annum. Good point, I thought. Goff explained that if she started now, by the retirement age of 65 she would have $420,000. 'Yeah, right', I thought.

    But, checking on sorted.org.nz, he's correct, albeit in 'nominal dollars', and that is without taking into account an increase in employer contributions.

    Dropping a decent superannuation scheme was possibly the stupidest thing we have ever done as a country. The sooner we get it properly re-instated, the sooner we'll be out of the rather cavernous hole we're in.
