So if fracking is causing earthquakes in places that don't normally get them, with some of those in Oklahoma recently being about 5ish, do we really want to find out what they'd do in a seismically hyperactive place like NZ?

As bad as man-made earthquakes are, that's far from the worst of it. We must never allow fracking here. At all.

    Speaking of inappropriate councillor behaviour...

Pull your damn head in, Cameron Brewer!

Outrageous Fortune star Robyn Malcolm, who made an outspoken attack on John Key's record, is to front an Auckland Council campaign to encourage recycling...

Auckland councillor Cameron Brewer wants Malcolm axed, saying she is "too partisan" to front the plan, and will "further paint the council into a left-wing political corner".

"Given Robyn Malcolm is clearly so anti the Government and the Prime Minister, she is far too partisan to front this all-important public consultation and plan," Mr Brewer said.

I presume Craig has already read the minutes of the commitee linked to?

Yeah, well, I'm kinda playing devil's advocate here.

What was the nature of the "discussion with BDO organisers," and did it involve any threat, explicit or implied, to rip up the BDO's contract to hire Mount Smart Stadium?

Wouldn't you want to find out the answer to this before describing Coney as a "self-appointed censor", because if there was no threat, then wouldn't she have been just exercising her right to free speech?

I mean, if there was a threat, then that's probably not cool, but do we even know that that was the case?

  • Hard News: Occupy: Don't call it a protest,

Anyone catch the news a couple of days ago that ALL the major trading banks operating in New Zealand have reported record profits this year? The guy from ANZ - whose profit had topped $1b for the first time - was asked if this meant that New Zealand customers were being ripped off, and his reply was basically "Don't worry; it's just an accounting trick"!

Slightly intrigued by National's claim that Labour "[u]sed the arts for political advantage". What's that about?
