  • OnPoint: Leviathan,

One wonders if 'they' expend as much effort and money on Hum Int as they spend on Sig Int these days, or has The Great Game had massive redundancies?

    Turn Key or Turkey?

Key retracting his vow to resign if it was shown that there was mass surveillance of New Zealanders.

Unlike Key I am happy to critique Ferguson - but what is he saying here:

Ferguson: “The whole method of surveillance these days, is sort of a mass collection situation – individualized: that is mission impossible.”

Aside from saying that modern 'surveillance' involves 'keeping watch' on collected/harvested metadata - Is this 'individualised' collection a reference to the TV show where 'Impossible' things are then routinely done to achieve an end?
or is he saying that it is really, really hard to extract individualised info from the meta data - which I would strongly doubt - the NSA has a processing plant that would sort through that in no time - it all depends on how they choose to interrogate their data... and what they are looking for and who for...

Gone up north for a while...

help political parties that promise the closest policy to what you want to see

What happens if some party (that happens to be in power) suddenly offers to fix your woefully inadequate bridges - but you know that that is just their selfserving redirection of Government resources, hitherto directed elsewhere - so you have to know it's a 'bribe' and that someone else will miss out on something else they were promised, if you vote for this party?
what to do? selfless or selfish?
they know which buttons to push

PS: I'd be looking at anything Key and cronies said to check for phrases like 'if elected we'll look at...' he has pedigree in this area...

  • Hard News: Rugby has a problem,

    Proud scrum…

I’m not sure I’ll bother going to a rugby game this year – and this is the game I’ve followed nearly all my life.

…and this is the changing paradigm within which the Government wants us ratepayers to build a new (possibly covered) stadium in Chchch!

Let Rupert Murdoch build it, I say.

Well truly no one should build it – it will be a three block deadzone in a city struggling for coherence and purpose.

    Our change management needs changing!

Why is drug policy a matter for the UN?

…and that consumers in one country provide a market catered to by people who create lawlessness in other countries as well – the sooner governments become the official growers & suppliers the better all round, really…
