The costs are similar for running the powerstation as for any of your clubs, in fact many club events are put on at rock venues, ie the civic in chch, and many rock events happen at clubs ie ministry in chch.
the production costs are similar ie big PA,The irony is that the Powerstation was set up by Tom Sampson and myself in the mid 80s as The Galaxy and it was the income from our club nights, as The Asylum, that allowed it to operate as a live venue. Without the club, no lighting rigs or inhouse PA. When it changed to the Powerstation in 88, under Chris Cole, the club nights worked the same way.

Am I the only one posting here who had to go and look up what 'X' actually is?
I am, aren't I....
But to be fair, from the NZ perspective its only ever really called that in American TV and movies

Ihug seems to be having issues too..the front page was down this morning, webmail won't login correctly and won't send mail when you do manage to get in.
Back to Gmail I guess

triple post..shit...someone fix please? This site seems particularly buggy right now?

I'm slightly troubled by the fact that there are moments there that other people remember and I don't.
I'm slightly troubled by the fact that no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get a plane into NZ until Saturday and missed what looked like the best BDO lineup for yonks.
You lucky bastards....

Listening to the Metro Area CD while cruising through the Lewis Pass of the Southern Alps is highly recommended, makes perfect sense.
Just as Burial went rather well spinning along the Bypass into Seminyak this afternoon.
Peter, your examples work for me perfectly too. No chemicals required.

But to be clear: My apologies to anyone & everyone who was offended.
Much as I appreciate Rob standing up for my (?) honour, I was amused...absolutely no offence taken or presumed meant ;)
And just to be clear, Its been many a decade since I've driven under anything approaching mind altering substances (if ever to be honest..although there was one night in 1981..nah best leave that...)
I know - it wasn't meant as a clue that everything else I said was BS as well ...
but Ubud did have a colony of gay German artists in the 1930s who invented large parts of what is passed off as traditional Balinese culture these days, so you never know... :)

hopefully you're a good friend of simon's cos that's some pretty personal jabs to make to a respected stranger.
my question was regarding the need for mind altering substances to appreciate the finer points of 15 mins of drum machines and roaring synth linesIn any sense of the word, yes straight. I was going to point out that my good wife appears on the image on the blog but then I realised that its currently a snap of our dog who was anything but straight when the photo was taken (been licking toads in the garden).
And Ubud doesn't have a beach anyway.....

I'm wondering how many people actually bought these records for home listening as much of that music only makes sense when you're tripping anyway, its dead boring straight.
its a matter of opinion and the tens of millions of mix CDs sold over the years, the success of albums by dance acts, plus the huge trade in DJ mix MP3s would argue otherwise.
Myself I listen to so called club / electronic music at home, in the car etc, not in any way exclusively but whenever the mood takes me.

So even without the headache pills they stung you for, the fact that you went to Poppy and Terrorism capital of the world would probably have been enough to set you up for similar fate.
but of course if they actually put one and one together in any meaningful way they'd likely realise that someone who had just done so was the least of their worries.
The logic behind the conclusion that Damien was likely to go to Afghanistan and return with a pocketful of Class anything perhaps goes part of the way to explaining why NZ is as awash with imported drugs as it is (and it is).
