  • Hard News: Trump's Dummkopfs,

With his shackles off, Trump is now free to make up anything he likes. Here’s a classic Trumpism from this morning.

"Isis will take over the United States if Hillary Clinton is elected president."

Oh, please. Even Trump’s most ardent arm-dragging fanboys would have trouble believing that one. Surely?

Meanwhile another appalling Trump story broke last week but was quickly overshadowed by Trump’s “I grope women” scandal. In an interview with CNN last week, Trump insisted that the Central Park Five are guilty.

A quick recap… five african-american teenagers were convicted for the 1989 beating and rape of a female jogger in Central Park. Trump took out full page newspaper ads at the time seeking the death penalty. Fast forward a few years, serial rapist Matias Reyes confessed he had acted alone and DNA evidence confirmed his account. The Central Park Five were all freed (after serving 6-13 years in prison) and NY City paid a $41m settlement.

Case closed? Not in Trump’s mind.

"They admitted they were guilty,” Trump said this week in a statement to CNN’s Miguel Marquez. “The police doing the original investigation say they were guilty. The fact that that case was settled with so much evidence against them is outrageous. And the woman, so badly injured, will never be the same."

For Trump, the fact that the five are african-american appears to provide all the evidence of guilt he needs. You can almost hear the banjos from here.

    God bless America.

  • Hard News: Trump's Dummkopfs,

While numerous high profile Republicans are backing away from the Trump train wreck, Paul Krugman points out in the NY Times that Republicans in safe seats are staying noticeably quiet on the matter.

Krugman suggests that recent moves to disassociate Trump from the GOP are only damage limitation, and that the Party must shoulder the blame for the rise and fall of the abomination that is Donald J. Trump.

Mr. Trump, in other words, isn’t so much an anomaly as he is a pure distillation of his party’s modern essence.

The world's media seems to be overflowing with commentary on Trump. His debate performance, the creepy way he stalked Hillary around the stage, his groping of women and the utter revulsion which hangs around him like a stench. He is a repulsive and disgusting human being.

I enjoyed NY Times writer Charles M. Blow's Donald Trump, Barbarian at the Debate which echoes the incredulity many of us feel that this character is somehow in the running for US president.

And NY audio artist Matt McCorkle has created an interesting remix (2:11) of the 2nd debate called "No More Perverts".

  • Hard News: Trump's Dummkopfs,

Is America ready for a President who believes his fame allows him to "grab pussy" and molest women at will? As evidence of Trump's unsuitability to be president continues to mount and top Republicans queue up to distance themselves from his increasingly disturbing behaviour, you have to question the post-reality world we're living in.

This grossly offensive fool really is in the running for the US presidency and something like 40% of Americans still say they are prepared to support him. If there is a God, he must be pissing himself about now. Reality has disappeared down a rabbit hole and will be resumed as soon as possible. Or maybe not.

The second presidential debate takes place this afternoon, 1-3pm NZ time on every major news channel.

And if you haven't yet seen Robert De Niro's opinion of Donald Trump, it's 56 seconds that's worth a peek.

  • Hard News: Trump's Dummkopfs, in reply to andin,

Look this guy is an insult to humanity, we have lost our way when he became a possible candidate for POTUS.

The Washington Post is running yet another gross Trump story showing his attitude towards women. Trump maintains that when you’re famous like him, you can do anything you like to women. Anything. Writer Ruth Marcus find’s Trump’s misogynism revolting.

“Grab them by the p—y.” I covered the Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill hearings, and the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky impeachment proceedings, and I still cannot believe I am typing this sentence about a candidate for president of the United States, or that you will be able to read it, even in redacted form, in The Washington Post.

That the Republican Party is still supporting this disgusting excuse for a human being demonstrates extremely poor judgement, at best.

In a related story, Stephen Stromberg insists, The Christian right must renounce Trump or renounce its self-respect.

Principles or power? It's obvious that the religious right in America are happy to betray one of these things to retain their grasp on the other.

The New York Times has published an interactive… The 273 People, Places and Things Donald Trump Has Insulted on Twitter: A Complete List – since declaring his candidacy in June. Every insult is linked to the source.

In their annual ranking of America’s richest people, Forbes informs us that Donald Trump has lost a further $800 million in the past year. I guess that means the orange one will have no taxes to pay… forever.

The Republic Party wasted no time in declaring their man Pence the winner of yesterday's VP debate.

The article read: "The consensus was clear after the dust settled, Mike Pence was the clear winner of yesterday's the debate."

A second post portrayed Hillary as the loser. Another post pointed out "5 questions Tim Kaine was NOT asked".

All good. Apart from one, tiny, hardly significant little fact. All of those posts hit the GOP website two hours before the debate had even begun. Whoops! Red faces (appropriately) all round.

Graydon Carter, the editor of Vanity Fair, isn't holding back when expressing his opinion of Donald Trump.

He is a mad jumble of a man, with a slapdash of a campaign and talking points dredged from the dark corners at the bottom of the Internet. I don’t think he will get to the White House, but just the fact that his carny act has gotten so far along the road will leave the path with a permanent orange stain.

    Bravo, that man.

Trump responds to criticism of his tax position, suggesting he'll become a better person when he's wearing the presidential hat.

“The unfairness in the tax laws is unbelievable,” he told an evening rally in Loveland, Colorado, following suggestions he could have escaped paying taxes for nearly two decades thanks to declaring $916m in losses.

“I am a big beneficiary, but you are more important than my being a big beneficiary, so we are going to straighten it out and make it fairer for everybody,” he added, seeking to persuade voters that past exploitation of the rules for personal gain would be put to one side if he became president.

“Fixing our broken tax code is one of the main reasons I’m running for president,” he told an earlier rally in Pueblo. “I’m working for you now,” he added, “I’m not working for Trump.”
