  • Legal Beagle: Too long, didn't read,

Bizarre twist to that last post..
Today, whilst driving up north I pulled off the main drag looking for a BP station, cos I had 25c off coupon from New World and found myself in a part of Whangarei that I had never been to before. I found a gas station on the road to the “Heads” and started to “fill ’er up”. Whist I was there I thought I’d fill a gas cylinder that I was taking up for the batch. Well all kinds of things went awry with the cylinder fill and as I waited who should pull up right in front of me but Hone himself. I told him about the website and he said “say no more” or words to that effect, pulled out his phone, made a call and handed me the phone saying “there you go, sort it out”.
So I did and he was most appreciative.
    Syncronicity, Strange days indeed, eh?.

  • Hard News: People Take Drugs, in reply to Russell Brown,

And this is one of the signs of marijuana use, according to their website:Acting silly for no apparent reason.

Actually one of the more common signs of marijuana intoxication is talking rubbish with great conviction, there's irony for you. Editor at Bay of plenty Times, I'm looking at you...

One way of achieving this with minimal fright to timid politicians, while also neutralising a lot of macho police blather and generally keeping the horses calm is to introduce “drug courts”.

I was thinking along the same lines and coming to the same conclusion...

Their position in the criminal justice system means they gain widespread acceptance in a way that public health programs (as substitiutes for “puniutive” responses) wouldn’t, but when you look behind what they do they are public health programs, with the “sentence” usually amounting to “go away and get well”, and then the various agencies (who are sitting at the back of the court) swoop in and provide the means to do so.

    Double plus good old chap.

I would add that those various agencies already exist and tend to be under funded, diverting the horrendous cost of policing this insane obsession into these agencies would even save money in the long run.
Now, what were they saying about doing silly things with no apparent reason?.

  • Legal Beagle: Too long, didn't read,

Whoever set up the website for The Mana Party has made a silly mistake.
If you want to get the numbers you need the bandwidth and having limited bandwidth leaves you wide open for a denial of service attack.
The site is down and reporting...

    Bandwidth Limit Exceeded
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later.

The Hoisting service "Web Drive Limited" states As a general guide we do not permit high-volume sites and appears to have a "cutoff" at 150 gb for national bandwidth and a meer 10 gb for international. This means that an ill wishing user could kill the site from Australia with a very limited attack.
    Not saying but...

among most primates, baring your teeth is a threat*.

I do find that during a confrontational situation baring the teeth can have a a disarming affect, I take them out, put them on the table and people tend to back off.

  • Hard News: Some Lines for Labour, in reply to Stephen Judd,

I believe that if John Key ripped off his latex human mask to reveal the slavering raptor head underneath and ate a baby on live television, most people would chuckle and go “gosh, that cheeky bastard really knows how to eat a baby, eh?” and then carry on as normal.

    Exactly.

every time I look at him or hear him speak I shudder. I need someone to deconstruct his likeability for me, because I. Don’t. Get. It.

How about we let Paul Henry do that?

There is a reason this man was called the "Smiling Assassin" although I see him more of a "Smirking Ass" in a suit.
The smile is the same smile that you see on a Hyena, the smile of a man who has been caught lying, smiling, relaxed, comfortable, a fake confidence. This man really does not have a clue, he is only the frontman, pull his string, he speaks... and smiles.
    People like people that smile...

I predict (and I am sometimes right about the weather) that following the Budget next week Labour will launch a make or break campaign.

Govt announces changes to NZ on Air music funding.

Great. So we fund these bludgers to sit around and sing songs and act like tools on video then we get penalised for downloading the result of our investment.
    Bah, humbug.
