So, if I follow wrong Ring's thinking.
If I have a magnet in my pocket am I more likely to be hit by a truck?. In the absence of any other force I suppose I would.
In other words the moon may well have an effect, a great effect? not so much. -

Damn, there goes another plan so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a Stoat...

could Gerry Brownlee step in and set region wide prices for items such as petrol and milk under the wide ranging powers he has?
Most likely he is still blowing on his pie...
Could someone confirm or deny that once a Government has called an election they cannot bring in new legislation?.

300+ casualties is pretty horrendous.
Not wishing to be picky but…
Casualty (person), a person who is killed or injured in a war or disaster

I haven’t quite made up my mind about builders gouging though
Builders don't Gouge, they Rout. ;-)
A few years back there was an article, in the Listener I believe, where they were interviewing a Builder, well, more like a developer from what I read, about the "Leaky Building Crisis" who said "If your paying your builder less than $65-70 per hour then you are asking for trouble". At the time the going rate was around $45. It turns out he was paying his "employees" between $18 and $25 and charging like a wounded bull. -

This is why prices are poor expressions of preferences -
This was illustrated beautifully in a Herald Article about the latest Household Economic Survey figures. Apparently we bought $99 million worth of tomatoes in 2010 compared to potatoes, at $98.9 million. I don't think I have ever seen potatoes for the same price as tomatoes and off the top of my head I would say that tomatoes, seasonally adjusted, are about twice the price so that would surely mean people ate twice as many potatoes as tomatoes, you would think, no?.
As for hoarding petrol, I remember the 1970s "Fuel Crisis" when people were doing just that and the consequences were several massive fires leading to several deaths, not a good idea.
It is the job of Government to attempt to maintain a stable, if not growing, society and part of that is how we share and trade. A good society has a balance of both economy and social justice, something that seems to elude this bunch of tossers. Unfortunately I think that the present Government has "Got Lucky" over the last few years, lurching from one crisis to another they have the excuse for not achieving much at the same time as appearing to be doing something.

Fold the edge of the bag over the rim and bring the toilet seat down to trap it into position. This can hold about two days waste for a small family (blokes can do number ones against the garden shed). It won’t actually won’t smell too bad until you move it when the bag fills up (then it certainly can be a bit wiffy).
If you have sawdust you could cover your “waste” with that, just a sprinkle will do, cuts down the pong remarkably well. You can then just pop it in the compost bin, without the plastic bag of course. It breaks down quite nicely and you can then put it on your Rhubarb. Still, not as good as custard but…

I seem to recall something about continually having to renegotiate 3G data connections – ie, situation normal on Vodafone in some places anyway – also being a major battery drain.
May already have been said but if you disable data connections on your phone, wifi, bluetooth, data through your provider, Vodafone or Telecom and switch to 2g only, you can get a lot more battery life. Of course you can re-enable them as needed.

Hard News: Again: Is everyone okay?, in reply to
I may be mistaken but I seem to have seen a lot of “in reply to” comments lately that reference one person but are really to someone else,
It is quite easy to click the "Reply" button of the previous poster by mistake I have found, done it a couple of times myself and maybe more that I have not noticed.
Also the "Auto Quote" function is a bit erratic when you copy and click reply sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.
