apropos of my little snippet of Greek knowledge, muni (the Greek word) is pronounced "moo nee" with a slight rising inflection. Which led me to ponder that Barry Humphries' locating of Edna Everage as coming from Moonee Ponds was probably exercising a modicum of Greek knowledge himself. It would hardly be coincidence, coming from him, eh? What with Melbourne being the 2nd most populous greek city and all that.

No, no need to start writing about kittens, Emma. In fact, I would be disappointed if you did as kittens are way less interesting than your usual posts. As Craig (I think) pointed out, it was probably the references to anal sex that grossed-out The Marshall.

Just thought you would all like to know that when I clicked to move to page 2 of this thread, while at work, good ol' Marshall Web decided there was something indecent about it and I have now lost all access to PAS from work which is very upsetting (although it may result in marginally more work being done).
Spending the obligatory 8 hours of the working day in front of a PC I don't generally spend much time on it at home.
I have asked that the site be flagged as safe, but no idea how that will go down. And I guess my internet usage will be monitored for a while, too.

As for AE funding - just how short-sighted and tunnel-visioned do you have to be to consider dropping funding for AE while you are thrashing about trying to deal with the outcomes of people who drop out of the system at an early age? Even most 5-year-olds can play 'join the dots' but not our new NACTional overlords, it seems.

Craig, I know you want to stick up for the Blue Team, but do you think most of them would recognise shame if it jumped up and nipped their dangly-bits? (not saying the Red Team is significantly better).
If they could feel the shame and make some show of redress then you are quite right. And the UK's "Moatgate" showed, as a similar enquiry likely would here, that there was fault on both teams behalf.As you say, it has developed over a considerable period and is not a recent or partisan phenomenon, but there is no reason not to pull their collective heads in, admit to maximising their own reimbursement while playing the austerity card, and make an attempt to put this shameful matter to bed. A big mea culpa would go down well in the public's eyes.

English is found to have his snout a little deeper in the trough than most - while dictating austerity for all.
The trough-snouting is endemic on both sides, as Craig will keep reminding everyone until various bovines revert to their domestic abode (maybe to their second homes?), but this is some blatant hypocrisy. The Nats could certainly earn a few brownie points by doing a quick about-face & cutting the double-dipping out but we all know how likely that is, eh?
I guess being on the opposition benches all that time has made them feel somewhat entitled now that they have finally gained the treasury benches, but did they think no-one would notice?

It might be worth taking small heed of something reported elsewhere, but not much mentioned within NZ, and that is the fact that despite the farcical handling errors and general error-rate the All Blacks were still in the game until the last 10 minutes or so.
To lose to the current world champions by only 12 points when making that many simple errors (and given that SA kick most any penalty from their own 10m line) is no mean feat.
Sure, the "run it at all costs, even from the in-goal" is a failed policy in SA but things are not as suicidally bad as some reporters are making out. (Who put the Rat in Chris Rattue?)
