  • Hard News: The fake news problem,

So it's an organised form of Google-bombing. And is RT the new Pravda?

  • Speaker: No, there isn’t a popular…, in reply to Cornford,

There's been people on the left pointing out for years the problems with the western left, and after all this and all that's happened in 2016 if people want to pretend there's no crisis, then don't be surprised when more 'Brexits' keep occurring.

Whatever happens, I hope the developed world isn't heading into some kind of dark age of illiberal democracy at best, and a political rerun of 1938 at worst.

On the other hand, Canada's Justin Trudeau seems to carry the torch for social democracy where others have long since given up or sold out.

Or Donald trump gets impeached for something or another. Then it’s business as usual for the Republican Party. And we start a new thread about John Key being a dickhead.

Apparently there's a statutory rape trial in the works.

If it's not a working-class revolt, then it could be that America's middle class is fearing for its very existence.

It's also safe to say that Hillary Clinton's loss is a knockout blow for the Third Way doctrine held dear by the Blue Dog Democrat and New Labour element. They have the cheek to shift the blame for their parties abandoning the working class, but when Bernie Sanders and Jeremy Corbyn openly want to reconnect with it, the Third Wayists deride them as museum pieces.

He didn’t need to spend the money when there are certain elements of the media actively pushing him.

How long before Trump starts going Erdogan on media outlets that dare to cross his path?

  • Hard News: Trump's Dummkopfs, in reply to Alfie,

Trump's campaign manager Kellyanne Conway really outdid herself yesterday when she told MSNBC that the orange slug has "a 5-point plan to defeat Islam".

    Taking a wild guess:

    1) Divide (& rule)
    2) Dehumanise
    3) Divert (attention from scrutiny)
    4) Deploy (armed mobs)
    5) Deny

Snopes looks at O’Keefe’s four 2016 videos and does a great job of explaining why no media organisation goes near them. He’s a lying, unethical scumbag, basically.

To be very, very charitable, O'Keefe makes Lynton Crosby and Karl Rove look like Seymour Hersh.

  • Hard News: Trump's Dummkopfs, in reply to Tom Semmens,

The 1860 US presidential campaign featured a fractured Democratic party, a huge and antagonistic sectarian divide, paramilitary groups parading around in support of their party, lots of shots fired at political rallys, all sorts of political violence in local elections, and the main losing Democratic candidate going on to be come a leading general in the Confederate army….

The key difference between 1860 and 2016 is any Trump insurgency would be just that – wild milita groups and crazy individuals might carry out random lynchings and attacks, but Clinton will have full control of and loyalty from the US military and governing apparatus at federal and state level. Nothing like succession, and therefore civil war, will come from this election.

The Weimar Republic was also like that during its short existence, especially after the Great Depression delivered the knockout blow.

It's also potentially raised another question: how far would the 2nd Amendment's most die-hard defenders push its limits? How far would they be prepared to violate the others, especially the 1st, 4th, 6th, 7th, 10th, 13th, 14th, 15th, and 19th?
