  • Hard News: Copywrong,

My comment was actually prompted by Ben Gracewood's agony that Judith Tizard had not refused to present the Bill based on his email.

  • Hard News: Copywrong,

So the Bill came up for its first reading in the House on Wednesday, and every single damn MP in the House (except for the Greens) voted for the stupid thing.

Of course they did - it can't get to Select Committee if they don't. And it's at that stage that you have to engage to make your voices heard. Hoping they'll pay attention to the rants on this thread is like hoping they'll legislate according to the comments on Micheal Laws' talkback show - not desirable under any circumstances.

Really, people, remember how the process works.

  • Hard News: Down in the Park?,

Annonymous, highly-placed sources in the National party have leaked the information that McCully has a special stupid stick reserved for his own use. Like him, it's extra thick (allegedly).

  • Hard News: Awesome,

Now, it wasn't just me who thought that ref was not up to it, was it? Or the linesmen, either. There was one point where a Welsh player running up the sideline clearly put his foot into touch, and the linesman (who was right there) was watching the oncoming tackle and missed it. I don't suppose we can expect them to be perfect but, christ! even Paul Honiss would have picked that!

    @Compie
I suspect he's turned off comments, which he has done before during the suppression debacle. Perhaps he doesn't want anything defamatory posted ;-)

  • Hard News: Of course it's about the book,

@Lucy: It depends on a lot of things. Those are the ʻfauxʻ headers you see inside an email program. The real headers would have shown the exact addresses. Depending on how the address was initially typed in, it may be that Ron created a contact entity called John Key and then selected it from from within the email. No real evidence of anything, based on the jpg on scoop.

Someone who uses Outlook, feel free to correct me by does it open attached word docs within the email? Or is that licence in the printing of the book?

If anyone out there has REAL copies of the emails and not just photocopies of the printed items, then itʻs trivial to check the addressing

<paraphrase>I lifted the injunction because I care about Nikky's book</paraphrase> - yeah, right. Not because the Party refused to finance it now he's not leader? Or because his legal team told him it would be money down the drain as the media would eventually win?

  • Hard News: Music in Parks,

    Are they really that stupid?

Australian maxim: If it's brown, drink it. If it moves, regulate it.

If it doesn't move, regulate until it does.
