Pandemic. Must get in some more practice.

  • Cracker: Of Tweets and Twats,

I had a collection of Little black Sambo and others books, which I collected because they were evidence of another era.

Just to bash the threads together harder, there was a guy on Antiques Roadshow recently who collected representations of Black people in art - including pickaninnies and nigger dolls, right back to the romanticised turbanned Turks, because it was important to him that those representations, that history, didn't get lost. He said it was getting harder and harder to find them as people just throw them away.

*cough* Ditto. This is getting silly.

  • Up Front: Also, The Rain Isn't Gone,

My comments seem to have a theme, but:
Don't die. Get around to it.

Maybe we should set up some kind of Pledge-bank-style 'nag a blogger into getting a check' thing. (I am also hideously overdue for being wedged open with a door-stop.)

  • Random Play: Hi-ho hi-ho it's off to…,

We need a hero. Sam, are you that hero?

I don't think that's a one-man job. I think that requires a team, under frequent rotation, who get regular SAN-checks.

OTOH, last year Kiwiblog just made me mad. The last couple of months I've snuck back, and it's hilarious . It's as if Ibsen wrote comedies about getting what you want and discovering it's impossible for you to be happy because you've been completely pickled in bile.

  • Hard News: It would be polite to ask,

But if Russell were to write his biog on here and license it under Creative Commons, somebody could cut and paste it onto Wikipedia with a reference back, and it would be all sweet.

I'm heading over to Haywood's this weekend. I'm sure between us we can 'do something about' Russell's Wikipedia page.

"Could you come and give me a hand, I can't seem to find this lady's cervix"

Okay, that's never happened. I mean... how lost can you get? My dr refused to do my smear tests any more because I have an unfortunate habit of giggling a lot.

I think my favourite weird thing was the bruising - I could rest my arm on the back of a chair for thirty seconds, take it away, and the whole contact area would be bruised black. It was a great party trick. I think I may have done all the tests on the lab test form except the ones you have to have testicles for, including the one where they cut your wrist with a razor blade and see how long it takes to stop bleeding.

So now apparently I also have very pointy corneas.

Also: Emma, I met your mum. She's lovely, and she seemed to really enjoy her night at the Media7 recording.

She is indeed quite improbably lovely.

I suppose you could call it that ...

    Would you prefer 'prematurely aged'?

The thing that annoys me the most is choosing frames. I basically can't see without my glasses on, and to choose new frames, I need to take my glasses off.

My partner worked this out. You take a digital camera with you. You still need another person, but you don't have to trust their judgement.
