Damn. I'll have to start shopping at Countdown instead of Pak n Slave. Mind you Andrew I think you can get free range chicken at Chantel's in Hastings St and free range pork at the Farmer's Market on Sunday
That's true Tony. I rarely buy pork but I have bought it from the farmers market and it's good.

I wrote an email to Progressive enterprises about 6 months ago complaining that I couldn't buy free-range chicken in their nice new Countdown supermarket here in Napier. This was just after the Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall program about his plight to turn an English town into the first free range chicken only town. I pointed out that while the tiny amount of Free range chicken stocked by English supermarkets frequently drove him to tears, they still stocked more than my local Countdown (none to be precise). I got a reply back within the day stating that all of their supermarkets stocked Rangatikei free range products and that they'd send out a reminder to all of their managers asking them to make sure stocks were replentished. Two days later there was a shelf of the products at the Countdown (legs, thighs, breasts etc) and a week after that they were all stickered with "NEW PRODUCT". Still, they've kept stocks up ever since. Maybe the same could happen with Pork products?

I was one of those caught within the cordon until Friday Morning when the Police let me sneak out. I hope I'm never in a position of having to listen to talk back radio again; so many ill informed experts. "Just burn the place down" was a popular one.
Note to Civil defence though: You have a website, so, rather than using this facility to tell me that some cordons have been lifted and to listen to the radio to find out which streets can be accessed, why not just put this info on your website so we don't all have to listen to ads for Mitre 10 on 18 different stations. -

Last time these boys played in Napier the audience consisted, oddly enough, of the mayor of Christchurch and entourage, me and a handful of friends. They were great too, certainly better than Bob Parker's dancing but at least he made the effort. -

Last night tv1 was showing the post gymnastic comp gala night which is kind of like a fancy circus. There was all sorts of dancing etc. At one point there was a large chinese dance group performing; I yelled through to my partner that the teams interpretive dance gold medal dance off was in progress. She came through with a discusted look on her face, "I can't believe what they allow into the olympics, and these guys aren't even that good".

Did anyone else watch the highlights of the womens tennis final yesterday with John Helm (appalling British football commentator) calling the action (with NZ's Glen Larmer)? Clearly tennis is even more of a mystery to him than football.
With Safina serving, and after offering nothing more than a "good shot" until this point, he noted that while some players took 2 or even 3 balls from the ball boy before serving, Safina only took 1 which he thought was very interesting. Why was this interesting? He had no idea, he was just sayin. It was clear that he said this because he needed to earn his money and it's all he could think of saying.
I'm willing to forgive commentators for getting over excited and repeating themselves endlessly (take the cycling) if they know a bit about the sport and the competitors etc (take the cycling). When they know less than your average armchair spectator and just talk (are they paid by the word?), then I get annoyed.
