Legal question: If/when this goes back to court, does the prosecution have to stick with the 7pm murder theory or are they allowed to put forward the alternative late night murder story?

Glad to donate again Russell. But I'd be keen to find a way to provide more regular contributions, maybe along the lines of a subscription to read past the first two paragraphs of an article and to and read/contribute to the forums. Or a one-click "donate/like" facebook style button. I don't know. What I do know is that you have strong support from the PA readership to come up with something new and lasting.

Hard News: Game Lorde, in reply to
Well I agree with you entirely, up to this point:
You stupid, talentless fucking fuck.
...where you really could have used something further up the swear word scale provided by the BSA to describe Simon. What a creep.

Ohhh. Hope it's not that bad for The Veils next month

Probably not suitable for a birthday, but I've been listening to this album nonstop since I discovered it last week. Utterly brilliant, best of the year in my unhumble opinion.

I'm still trying to form an opinion on all of this. Rod Oram came out with some strong arguments in favour of POAL last week, which was interesting. Is any of what he was saying untrue?

The latest White Rabbits album came out this week. "Temporary" is probably the catchiest song, but the whole album is full of subtle and interesting tunes. Similar to Spoon/Radiohead/Beatles

Hard News: Staying Alive, in reply to
I am sure that if there were separate, safe cycle lanes down the main arterial routes into the city there would be a lot more cyclists, and consequently a lot less cars on the road.
And on top of that, motorists would have a greater awareness of cyclists, simply because there would be more of them around.

As a sometimes cyclist, I hate seeing cyclists disregard traffic laws.
I've had this discussion quite a few times with other cyclists and car drivers, and I agree with you that jumping red lights does nothing to improve the perception of cyclists. But cars always try and squeeze past me at this particular intersection, and they don't seem to realise that it would be so easy to "accidentally" kill me. In this particular case, I think I can live with their annoyance/hatred.
if you are really worried about your safety perhaps get off the bike, cross like a pedestrian, and then get back on the road
Yep... or just get back in the car. At the moment I'm commuting from Parnell to Penrose daily, and I found it way too dangerous to cycle down Great South Road. The bus/train is ok if you're willing to waste two hours a day, but the car is just too damn convenient
