So say something uncivil. I think its more than justified.
(And Craig is right. This response by police to those investigating their conduct is downright dangerous. Its the sort of thing that happens in shitty third-world dictatorships, not in a modern democracy).

I just fail to see what on earth the police think they have to gain from pursuing the matter with such single minded and small-brained vindictiveness.
Easy: they deter people from making complaints against them in the future.

I don’t begrudge the PM or Leader of the opposition meeting with their constituents.
I think there's a difference between meeting with your constituents, and tacitly endorsing their bigotry by taking a starring role in their propaganda setpiece.
But at the end of the day, Goff is free to meet who he wants, and we are free to judge him on it. And as someone who thinks family first's reactionary social and economic policies should make them persona non grata to the left, I certainly will be. Harshly.
(But maybe he'll surprise me, and denounce their bigotry. And maybe Roger Douglas will rise from the dead...)

3news reported that the CGT will apply to shares, farms, and businesses as well. And had John Key (who coincidentally has a very large share portfolio) complaining about this as interfering with "productive investment".
Bullshit. This is all about speculation. Even our farmers are basically farming capital gains. And its time these speculators paid their fair share.

Day trading does have an economic benefit tho'; liquidity in the financial markets is a good thing, and day trading helps provide that.
Sure. But are those benefits (which largely accrue to other market speculators) worth making it tax free?
I think not.

More importantly, an electoral system which encourages representation allows issues to be considered on their merits (politically speaking) rather than simply ignored because they don't matter to rich dead white males.

Yes. Is it actually used anywhere?
The The Netherlands and Finland. Other Scandanavian countries tend to proportionalise by region (sometimes with a national top-up to correct the resulting errors), with a low threshold.
Though they also do things such as having no threshold, but proportionalising regionally

And not to be obvious or anything, but the ground is everywhere you go, there's no escaping it. When you're outside in open space, it feels like nowhere is safe, even though it's probably safer than being inside because there's nothing to fall on you.
