Hard News: A thundering clash of, in reply to
She could believe it although that poses other problems.
It appears she involved her family in this without discussing it with them first. Now she claims to be quiting to protect them but it looks more like she's going to protect herself from her family.

Yes, a dramatic divergence. I think it’s symptomatic of various undercurrents within broader left wing politics that have been causing tensions for awhile.
Others have done wrong but the wrong didn’t cut into deep underlying divisions on difficult issues.
Indeed, she got caught telling the truth, if not in all its untidy detail.
She misrepresented the central element of her story. And within a matter of hours of her assuring her colleagues and the public that there was nothing more to come out, this bombshell comes out.

Just the typical things most grandparents do, in other words.
I think the issue was that some within her whanau had a different perception of what went on to that of Turei.
I don’t know the truth of the matter but I do know that Turei was determined to stay as co-leader and as an MP with the full support of her colleagues no matter what the polls said, no matter what the media or public said – right up until a member of her whanau voiced an opinion.

They were only right if they knew then what we might learn tomorrow about why exactly she resigned. But unless they told Shaw that then , they were just being whiners.
Or possibly from having worked with her they had doubts about her reliability.
But for whatever reason their judgment turned out to be more acute than every other Green MP. They paid a price.
They were immediately subject to a remarkablely dishonest character attack.

It was the tone of her explanations that troubled me.
And her explanation of why she resigned - to protect her whanau - might be even more troubling if it does turn out members of her whanau had a different version of what went on to her.
And Shaw is now left having rejected the advice of two of MPs - forcing them into exile - when they were right. His judgement was poor to say the least.

What strikes me about this is how it highlights the difficulties of running a society.
If a party of like minds and of high principle can so quickly fall into bitter factional infighting what hope that national politics could ever be smooth and easy.
It's easy to identify problems, much harder in reality to fix them.
And that mix of identity vs class vs environment is a potent brew.

That's bullshit
Well, it was meant to be ironic. I was taken aback that the Green Party so quickly painted these two MPs as lazy unprincipled time servers. Given Graham's reputation that was a bit surprising.
But according to RNZ these allegations against them are untrue and quite possibly deliberately untrue.

Somewhat alarmed the Greens could provide safe haven for two enemies of the people for so long.

Ardern has the immunity pin at moment.
And the mystery box challenge is goose.
