Cash Cows or Friesian Market Economy...

Private Equity has only ever improved industries it gets involved in, as we all know.

Thanks for the link Farmer Green, too
Yeah. No. - it's not quite what I thought it was, sounds more like they are diversifying into finance and debt farming and using the co-operative as sucker-bait - two bubbles to burst?
Plus the revamped RD1 Sheds - retail another changing bubble to blow...
Their push to wring another 4 billion litres a year out the market seems to be based on constant growth and indebtedness...
Surely there comes a point of balance on production and profit, that can be maintained?
Corporate mindsets can't stay in accord with natural cycles for long...
they always wanna hurry things up, or somehow get an edge.

But what do city folk like me know about it all
    - perhaps it is a good thing?

and just so long as they aren't doing all this to avoid paying more tax or something 'tricky'...

    - but only for a 15 minute window – then add next photo
    and Save.
    and repeat, once.
(Limit 3 pix per post, I think)

and for checking text before posting
    Preview is your friend.

Chris's method is much more succinct
and doesn't take up much room
    on the packet!

  • Speaker: Compulsory voting and election turnout, in reply to DaiKiwi,

    ‘protest’ votes...

I wonder if there could be a Negative Vote option?
Whereby if the voter doesn't want to vote for anyone on offer, they can still exert their will with a vote that subtracts a vote from a Party they specifically would not like to see in power...
    Keeps it tactical,
    as is the do
    in the new milieu...

  • Hard News: A message from The Fabians,

    underground zero…
Mon, it’s so apt dat de ‘Election Debriefing’
is to be held on de basement level…
    of The Owen Glen Edifice…

    Lost in the Bowen Triangle…

Gower is of course a synecdoche for the media pack.

    Love that word…

    But the beltway frenzy….

Is Beltway now a synecdoche for NZ’s Sphere of Political Influence…

"Inside the Beltway” is an American idiom used to characterize matters that are, or seem to be, important primarily to officials of the U.S. federal government, to its contractors and lobbyists, and to the corporate media who cover them—as opposed to the interests and priorities of the general U.S. population.
The Beltway refers to Interstate 495, the Capital Beltway, a circumferential highway (beltway) that has encircled Washington, D.C. (the capital of the United States) since 1964.

People we can do better than tacking locally meaningless Americanisms on things, can’t we?
Heck, The Beehive Buzz or Beat would even be better than Beltway…

I love that New Zealand has a Minister Of Engagement!

Hmmm, continuing his 'Benefit/Crack Cocaine' addiction metaphor ... it seems from that site, that English also thinks Education is addictive as well...

We know hooking adults back into the education system and getting them off benefits into work in seven years rather than 20 saves the country millions," he said

and he really begrudges those on a sickness benefit...
    Ivory-towered twit...

    Pun Search
No, not really – I meant
    Go the Canes!
…but I did find some pictures of divers KiwiFruit cutivars.
Perhaps the original ‘Sun Peach’ stock that grew from the seeds of Actinidia deliciosa Isabel Fraser* brought back to Wanganui (sic) in 1904 is, still among them.

I suspect the name comes from the ‘stellate’ presentation of the bisected fruit.

There’s a potted local history here – and a bit more detail on the Zespri site
