Putting the ACT amongst the pig ions…
Little Davey Seymour (using his Trumpian nom de politics) really takes the cake with the risible ‘defence’ of his, ‘#meattoo’ stance on the radio recently – and his tweet calling Susie Ferguson an ‘amateur’ shows how little he understands the nuances of civil behaviour. His ham-fisted conflation of ‘the right to like meat’ with ‘a right to objectify human bodies’ – and in his case modelling a bull-headed female. (and not just any female but the classic redneck truck flap ‘seated nude silhouette’.)
The Meat Society has apologised but Seymour is bullishly holding his own. Apparently they were modelling their slogan on the ‘Got Milk’ campaign – which ultimately did nothing to improve the sale of milk in America, not sure how the silhouetted ‘minotaur’ and ‘womanotaur’ entered the equation.
He really is a self absorbed and odious oik.
NB: I have digitally altered the top image to add his underlying position to his tee shirt.
Too soon?
Russell & Emma feel free to remove if not appropriate.

Up Front: Why a Woman is Like a Bicycle, in reply to
CERN is where the World Wide Web was born. But the United States military often gets the credit.
I guess it is the confusion between the networking structure which arguably ARPANET set up, but it was Berners-Lee who opened it up with the protocols and interface free to all...

More laughable journalistic spelling in this Stuff story:
https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/101711823/using-santa-to-market-cocacola-a-nogo-advertising-watchdog-rulesCoca-Cola has been banned from using Santa Clause to promote its fizzy drinks to children.
Healthy Auckland Together, a coalition of 21 public health organisations, complained to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) about a Coca-Cola billboard showing Santa holding up a piece sign with one hand and two cokes in the other.Jesus wept!
The really funny thing is that this modern ‘Santa Claus image’ comes originally and largely from Coke© ads in the ’20s and ’30s

Doesn't really say if they are coming to Chchch still or not...
I suspect not -
...and then there's this - showing how up to date Stuff's international coverage is:
How hard would it be to change the old 'florida nightclub shootings' to 'school shootings '
- and who cares about the US 2016 elections now ...
and to put an apostrophe in that 'donald trumps america'...
sigh...I also note they now spell Civil Defence with an 's' in one of their nelson storm damage stories
double sigh...

Largely cut off from the North Island as we are again, chchch punters have the Electric Avenue festival in Chch's Hagley Park this Saturday (24th) to buoy up their spirits - The D4, Primal Scream, Dizzee Rsacal, Katchafire and many acts I've never heard of...

The other shoe just dropped for me - when I read that Trump's unqualified head of Education - Betsy DeVos, was at one of the public meetings - as Erik "Blackwater' Prince's sister she'll probably suggest private security firms for 'defense of schools' - Prince sold Blackwater a while ago but still seems to be in the security business and is a big Trump supporter - He does love family businesses our Donald....

I was just watching a White House Press Conference - with some Trump mouthpiece spruiking up the economy - and he said "...as we are approaching the 21st century" !!!
That explains a lot...
(I'm just not sure which century they think they are in)I'm also guessing Trump's solution for Church Shootings will be to arm the clergy.
Personally I think if they want to keep their 2nd Amendment rights to bear arms, they should have an amnesty where everyone has to trade in their military and automatic or assault weapons for single load muskets and flintlock pistols.
That might make them engage in dialogue before shooting first......and address their anger problems.

The Aussie Fairfax parent company is making good on its retrenchment in the NZ operation:
https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/101632830/stuff-outlines-newspaper-closures-as-part-of-shift-to-digitalProbably just as well as they seem to think that a story about film piracy in Australia belongs in the Chch 'Rebuild' section of The Press website.!!! (above)
and if you go their 'National' page - they have no headings or coverage of Northland, Gisborne, Hawke's Bay or the West coast - obviously those people aren't worth selling ads to in the greater scheme of things....
