We should be pouring money into Ag-research and bio-tech, we should be aiming for World leader in food production and processing. We could be using our "Hard Earned Taxpayer Dollars" to develop this goal. All we need its a PM who is "Ambisshuss" to do something other than fossick for presshusss stuff.

Key is right to suspect that any hint of ceding the sovereign territory of New Zealand to any other state - new or existing - would trigger a Pakeha backlash
There are so many problems here.
1. Would allowing Chinese interests to purchase vast tracts of land from the Cryafar estate constitute ceding sovereign territory, if not then why not?
2. Bearing in mind the historical significance of the Tuhoe claim and the poor state of the Te Urewera National Park I think it a little incongruous that National should deny Tuhoe what is rightfully theirs whilst advocating Mining in far less neglected areas of natural beauty. -
100% with you on the rest of what you said.
Apart from the shallow bit...

people who make notes in library books correcting what they think are grammar errors. In pen. And are wrong.
I find that sort of thing part of the joy of library books but 100% with you on the rest of what you said. I guess it goes back to the days when books were rare that that respect was born but, going back to the subject of writing in the margins, I have come across quite insightful and sometimes humorous, commentary scrawled in the most unusual books and that can make them even more precious.

If you're listening to The Rock or Hauraki then it's gotta be...
"Stairway to Heaven"
TV- "M.A.S.H." -
you only have to hear or see him deliver those words to know they were written down beforehand.
I thought I was alone in thinking that. Does anybody else have that uncomfortable feeling that we are being led by a sock puppet?. Who is, actually, writing those words?.

hard-earned taxpayer bikkies.
Dog whistle alert there. Those paying the most tax are not the hardest workers, just the highest paid and that what most of those people do amounts to little in terms of creating wealth, ie. they are normally found in the finance sector, law or, god forbid, property development or real estate.

What's really depressing me is that both Brown and Banks are not exactly pumping out the substantive policy
What's the point? It's not like they will actually be able to implement any of it, all that sort of stuff will be decided in Wellington by unelected bureaucrats and enacted by trained monkeys in Auckland. We get to keep the Mayor as a pet.
