  • Hard News: The First Draft, in reply to Russell Brown,

the tone was wrong too (IMHO). a teenager with that many deceased immediate family wouldn't be writing for a Pulitzer.

  • Hard News: What Now?, in reply to Tom Semmens,

Napier was rebuilt all at once in the quickest and cheapest way possible

i've heard this argued about CHCH. people might be 'talking green', but what will decide the day is the cheapest and most effective way to recover and get on with business.

that might mean that CHCH ends up NZLs greenest city, because Green is oh-so avant-garde.

OTOH they might end up with the Oaks complex.

my inner cynic is... not helping.

the next election will be fought on big-dick issues like cutting spending to pay for roads and the ETS.

i earn over the threshold for payment of the levy, and i'm ok with that.

mind you, it'll likely just take me back to where i was before the tax cuts anywho...

  • Hard News: Again: Is everyone okay?, in reply to giovanni tiso,

done. you can send an email direct via the parliament website.

note that the Minister must reply to Ministerial Correspondence.

there will be some grad policy analysts shitting themselves somewhere having to reply to these.

    a thought:

i'd suggest people write the Minister of Corrections asking for elaboration of her comments this morning.

for instance, is she intending to have prison rape added to the legislation, assuming that is what her comment intended?

  • Hard News: Again: Is everyone okay?, in reply to giovanni tiso,

I’d expect her to have to resign

yup... like that's ever going to happen.

The Minister actually is what her years in opposition promised her becoming.

  • Hard News: Again: Is everyone okay?, in reply to Craig Ranapia,

Rape culture is no more “natural” than casual racism or sexism. .

that’s not what Danyl is saying. he’s saying that lot’s of people think that prison rape is part of the punishment.

and he’s right. there are plenty of haters out there.

as for Collins, for her NOT to think like that would be the knock me down with a feather moment.

the caption changed between times i saw it, yesterday and today.

perhaps the realisation it is a dying man was too much for people?
