Access: Privacy and the right to consent…, in reply to
If it's internal staff, firings at that level probably would not help, because the basic institutional problem in that case would be that those staff were asked to do things they're not trained for, on a ridiculous timeframe, with insufficient budget and insufficient direction in terms of project specifications -- because management were and are clueless about what they were asking for. And if you squint at it the right way, it's possible to see that kind of clusterfuck arising as a result of a genuine intention to preserve data confidentiality by keeping development in-house. (Oh, and of course to do it as cheaply as possible.)
Even if it's an external contractor, the managerial incompetence is such that I'd bet that the specifications given were insufficient to actually hold the contractor to a performance clause.

To claim Pākehā as an absolute majority in Auckland, you have to apply “but they all look the same” to Stats NZ's “European” label – which is no more true than for the other (overly) broad clumpings in their poster. (All of which hide a greater range of internal diversity in Auckland than elsewhere in NZ, it must be noted.)
But your points about Pākehā status as “notable minority” and greater visibility in positions of power are well taken. -

no one of our 220 ethnic groups forms an absolute majority in present-day Auckland
In an exact sense, Vaughn’s claim is likely correct.
This extract from Statistics New Zealand’s 2013 census figures Auckland poster shows “59.3% European” – but also note “39.1% born overseas”, so that “European” label should not be regarded as describing a monocultural Pākehā mass.
Further note that the ethnicity figures add to more than 100% (because “European” and other counts include some mixed-ethnicity individuals who ticked more than one option, and therefore the % figures are inflated by counting those individuals multiple times). -

Indeed, Mapp makes no mention at all of the book Hit and Run in that post. Which under the circumstances is quite a spectacular feat.
Nevertheless The Spinoff has reported it as an admission. -
Meanwhile, Rich Hall is back on BBC Radio 4 with his US Breakdown series commenting on Trump’s first 60 days in office.
Episode 1 (March 22) will be available to stream or as MP3 download for 30 days after broadcast. -

Hard News: The long road to Hit and Run, in reply to
Attacking the wrong people, and demolishing their houses, is such a perfect fit for a reconstruction team's work, and is absolutely guaranteed to make them safer while doing that work. Nah. It was such ill-considered overkill that it has to be classed as revenge.

If you’ve nothing to hide, you’ve got nothing to fear;
Now bend while we check nothing’s hidden up there,
And spread your cheeks wide, so that our probe can clear –
If you’ve nothing to hide, you’ve got nothing to fear. All the records we have we will happily share
With police, or just with our mates over a beer.
You want privacy? Where’d you get that idea?
If you’ve nothing to hide, you’ve got nothing to fear.
