That was after my time, and there were some smart young students involved by then., including I think Simon Wilson? Time for a history of the SSSA.

That Letraset brings back memories of doing layout for our rebellious Secondary School Students' Association newsletter calling for student democracy in high schools, the end of corporal punishment and uniforms, and marches on Parliament. Catherine Delahunty was our feerless teenage leader. My friend's father had a stationery importing business which was handy. Yesterday's student strikes reminded me of those days - the technology has certainly advanced but I recognise the energy and the urgency.

Helen has got to know the Poisons Centre people well over the years. Most things are locked away but it just takes an unguarded minute. But what makes me sad is the lack of respectful and appropriate services and support they have experienced over the years. Some high points/good people but lots of very low points and people who should never be allowed near vulnerable non-verbal people. And constant surveillance.

I hope Helen writes some more. She is not short of experiences to write about. She is also one of the wisest people I know. She knows about all sorts of things such as mysterious ailments, side effects of medications used for people with autism, and how to navigate mysterious processes in order to get support for those with a variety of needs.

I found it a bit frustrating that the documentary didn't explain how he conquered Hep C. He is shown finishing a very expensive course of a drug that doesn't work and then he is suddenly cured, presumably by something else? I understand that was because of the availability of a newly funded and very effective Hep C drug. It would have been helpful to have mentioned that.

Wellington City Libraries has a similar free service called Gateway. You can access it from home so not affected by the current closure of the main library.

Oops, I have been alerted to a couple of minor errors
Trish is the editor and Robyn is co-founder of CriptheLit but not co-editor.. So
the sentence reading "...reclaimed as a disabled writer by joint editor and CripTheLit founder Robyn Hunt." should read "joint Crip the Lit co-founder founder Robyn Hunt."Also "For example, joint editor Trish Harris’s piece begins: "I am a part-time crane operator... should read, "For example, editor Trish Harris’s piece begins: "I am a part-time crane operator."

Today's article in the Sunday Star Times by Andrea Vance shows another reason why many abuse survivors distrust the state and its agencies such as Crown Law. The state's resources were used on surveillance of Keith Wiffin in earlier attempts to seek justice for survivors.
