@Luke [and off topic] ... much like TV3 news last night reporting on the return of Outrageous Fortune.

I thought the ladies liked a man who could make them laugh?
Lots of men make me laugh. Especially the ones who say "Whaddarya, some kind of lesbian" as if it was an insult...

The Silver Fox
Well, hello, Tim Gunn :)
And @Megan Wegan, yup, been there, been totally skeeved by the layout, which ensures that the leerers can and do surround the dance floor, drink in hand, watching like it's a jelly-wrestling pit.

They just said - flippantly, I thought - on 3News that anyone shopping at SOG has to show photo id, which will be logged, and that database must be made available to police at any time they wish. Unbelievable.

That was actually quite scary.
The Pompeii exhibition included a short 3D movie showing the eruption and aftermath. I found that quite terrifying, considering the number of volcanoes in NZ!

God that chant is annoying!
I feel the same way about "Same old Aussies, always cheating". A bit of amateur dramatics is standard in football - you can't tell me the Phoenix players never ham it up a bit to get a penalty or free kick.
-
But then, magically, the crowd started singing the Home and Away theme song.
Really? Gosh. I must've taken the wrong exit...
But DAMN! What a great atmosphere. I've been to rugby games here and overseas, and to a few football games in the UK - and I often feel vaguely unsafe or unwelcome in those crowds. But this crowd just wanted to sing and chant and see the Phoenix win. It was awesome.
And the chanting must've scared the bejeezus out of the Jets... they just didn't seem to be able to ignore it.

Also: Johnson's hair. Someone needs to stage an intervention.
I was wondering if Shane Warne had loaned his hair to the team...
But apart from that, a great game. One-dayers that come down to the last two overs should be a mandatory childhood experience, like skinned knees and endless summer holidays.

I'm staying with clever friends who watch UK and US television on their lovely flat-screen tv via the web. They have IP addresses for those countries, so don't have to wait for months for the shows to come here. And the ads are few and far between or non-existent. I don't know how legit it is...
Surely the advertisers would want to know how many people are still watching television channels in the traditional way, compared to the number of people using technology to watch tv via the web or dvds - generally with less advertising.
That would be a more interesting survey to me - rather than how many NZ houses (out of a limited sample) have the tv turned on during a certain programme.

I have never wanted to have children, but I do wish I had someone to read to! Reading aloud is wonderful - I used to do when I was a primary school teacher. I miss it! Someone lend me a child for a minute or two...
