The minister, Jonathan Coleman, had apparently hoped to make an announcement about the channels and funding before Christmas, but it’s likely that the government’s alarming fiscal projections are occasioning a rethink.
That makes sense... and doesn't make sense. I don't really see what difference it makes in this situation whether the government is losing $12.5b or $15b. That isn't a problem that will go away by trimming little bits of expenditure.
Anyway, it's not like the media have noticed that there's a crisis there anyway. I could count on one hand the number of words the DomPost has written about the budget crisis (or the NZAid crisis), at least in the A section...

Hard News: We are all twatcocks now…, in reply to
It strikes me that the two most intelligent columnists in the SST are both nominally sportswriters (Stephen Boock and Kilgallon), which seems like a terrible waste. The SST should really swap the roles of Boock and Michael Laws, whose tripe would be perfectly suited to the Sports section.

I left two candidates unranked. If the election comes down to Bernard O'Shaughnessy vs. Kerry P, well, my bad.

So then... who else felt this one?

Sure, it's tiny, but some of us have been feeling left out.

One thing that has irritated me both the times I've heard the topic discussed on Mediawatch is the appeal to a study showing that the New Zealand media are apparently more sensitive than those overseas about reporting suicide as a reason to loosen the restriction
Um, of course they're more sensitive. They're legally obliged to be.

As an orange-haired person, I have no problem with being hugged on the basis of my hair colour. I don't have a problem with the word "ginga". I do, however, have a problem with yobbos in cars yelling out "GIIIIINGAAAAA!" as they drive past. Come on, guys!
And well, I must have been wrong, because I thought when the Haden comments came up that he was claiming that the CRU had a quota for white players, and that he used the word "darkie" to illustrate the attitude he perceived them to have.

re: NetGuide Awards -- Bob McCoskrie's Family First site is in the 'suggested' options for 'Best Family Site'?
But you can fill in a criticism of that in the little box! And they'll even thank you for it!

Bryers' employer at Northern Crest Investments Ltd
He has an employer? Why would anybody hire someone so monstrously incompetent? I hope everybody with their money at "Northern Crest" realises.

The Lake Waikarimoana(sp?) track sees a lot of action. I walked it again in the summer - almost as many Kiwis as Germans.
I'm pretty sure this is an illusion. New Zealanders will walk the track in three or four days, so you'll probably see them more than once, but Germans will do it in one or two at a stretch.

Well, the Brighton Pavilion result is at least something to celebrate.
