The thing that Drinnan doesn't seem to get is that you are opinionated and that you do have a voice. This is the primary reason us readers visit Pub^H^H^HHard Copy and I for one am very clear on where your advertising based comments start and editorial ends. You have always been pretty straight up about sponsors for all of your events and I do see it is a endorsement from you in way but you will also be the first to call them on anything shitty they do.
Putting it in your words Powershop is "kinda neat"
Am I going to sign up? Probably not right now but the campaign has worked better than a standard banner. More campaigns like this please. I think we are all smart enough to work out what the ads are and we trust you not to endorse products that you truly think suck.

Even more useful would be to use their apparent geospatial background to add geotagging to the requests and responses. A Google Earth layer for accessing official information that relates to your locality?
Good idea. All of the data they get is made available on Koordinates which is pretty cool. Anyone can download the results. Sam from Zenbu is also using the data to add to their site where they also make the data freely available.
Cool stuff and only more to come. If we try and work with the various departments to open up data we should start to get somewhere.

Coming from a person who is new to all this OAI stuff I really think it is a great resource. The problem with having a lot of experience with OAI requests is that you sometimes lose the perspective of what it _should_ be like as opposed to what it _is_ actually like.
It is good to step back, leave the baggage at home and take a fresh look at it. Ask the question again "Why is this so hard?"

The guys at Koordinates have started an Official Information Blog which is a running commentary of their OAI requests. It makes for interesting reading.

The TiVo stuff should be great. Sign me up (but via that horrific form at mytivo.co.nz). I am wondering why WiFi wasn't built into the box and is an add-on? It seems strange in this day and age where home networking basically means wifi.

One of the things I don't get is that the US wants people to borrow yet more money on credit cards to get them out of the financial crisis. If anyone has seen the documentary Maxed Out this just seems like a really bad idea. I also think that NZ could be hitting some major problems with short term credit soon as well. All those flat screen TV's, mag wheels and the like that people purchased when times were good on 3 years no interest, no repayments, no money down must be getting near the point where they need to start paying those loans back. Me thinks with unemployment rising the s#$t could start hitting the fan.
I've been saying since the beginning, this financial crisis is a long, long way from the end. It could get a lot worse in 2009.
PS: Think you're pretty funny don't you Mr Brown...I haven't been Rick Rolled for quite a while.

It would be great if the show came down as one podcast. I seem to have heaps of problems with missing parts, parts that appear in the feed but iTunes can't download them, etc. Great show but having it broken up just really is a bit messy and doesn't work that well.
I'm wondering what the reason is for breaking the parts up as the show is really one 'part'.

Great work on NZ On Screen. I would love to see some kind of license employed for all new work that gets NZ On Air funding whereby it has to be put into some form of Creative Commons License after 15 years. After all most content doesn't have a long commercial shelf life but the cultural importance of the work as an entire body is something that we need to curate and allow access to future generations.

Lets just say some ordinary citizens accidentally accused the MP's of illegally downloading content. After 3 accusations they would have their internet access cut off? Will it be that easy to bring down internet access for those who passed this bill?
It will be interesting to see what comes of this bill in practice.

And And All Tomorrow's Parties is coming to Australia. Would be nice to catch that.
