  • Hard News: Campaigns,

Oh, and his recent 'stance' on women breastfeeding in restaurants? 'Breast-feeding a baby is an intimate act, and I don’t want to watch strangers performing intimate acts.... there’s no principle at work here other than being too lazy to either plan ahead or cover up. It’s not fighting for a right. It’s fighting for the spotlight.... there is a place where breasts and food do go together. It’s called “Hooters."''

That was exactly when I gave up on Bill Maher, I was inarticulately furious. The argument against this is too stupid and obvious to bother repeating.

Poor guy, unable to not stare at breasts in public, even if there's a baby's head in the way.

Wow, that takes gloating to a whole new level. I'm sending the link to all my American friends right away.

As an antedote, you may wish to consider The Toronto Song. It even has banjos. Though possibly not enough for Bob.

Thanks for the tip about 'Saturday Night Fry'.

Having checked with the Chap, those apparently came from, and I'm quoting here, "some guy". So they may be hard to find. Or, you know, the next time you're in our house with some digital media and the governor general or a librarian...

Mighty Boosh... watched it this week and it took me places.

    Know what you mean, dude.

To my embarrassment, I just never got into that. All my friends like it...

And I did like Alas Smith and Jones as much as some of the other stuff, and more than Reeves and Mortimer, in that it wasn't always brilliant, or even good, but 'Hello, I'm Joanna Lumley' has stuck in my head for what must be over a decade now.

And, yes, aren't Armstrong & Miller fantastic! Did you know that Ben Miller gave up a Ph.D. in quantum mechanics in order to move sideways into comedy. Can't really blame him.

What nearly put me off was having seen Alexander Armstrong in so much, oh what's the word, shite.

And while you're at the Beeb, their Friday Night comedy podcast is also brilliant.

Mel Smith and Gryff Rhys Jones?

And that is the very sketch, seen by accident while channel-surfing, which got me on to Armstrong and Miller.

You can download Saturday Night Fry from the Beeb - the radio show which is basically just Fry, Laurie and Thompson being increasingly surreal.

And the people who bought negatively geared investment properties will have to find a way to hang on or give up and sell for what they can get.

We just spent the weekend in Hanmer. It's for sale. Entire streets of people's holiday homes being offloaded. And yet, they're still ridiculously over-priced.
