Speaker: It's called "planning" for a reason, in reply to
Well, we hope. But the current government are pretty anti the MUL, and if they successfully get it ditched then increasing density is going to be difficult because the Council will be obliged to release urban fringe land for development.
And relaxing the MUL's, in spite of all the spin, isn't necessarily going to lead to 'affordable housing'. If anything, it'll likely mean more McMansions and suburban fortr.... oops, gated communities.

Seems that WikiLeaks has brought the cargo cultists kicking and screaming out of their nuke-proof bunkers, if the Granny Herald's Your Views of this world are anything to go by. It kind of sounds like something out of the comedy flick Blast from the Past.

Ultimately, what would be the actual point of rendering/kidnapping/dissapearing/assasinating Assange?
With apologies to Medgar Evers, the point would be that men can be killed but not ideas.

Some say William Gibson merely perfected cyberpunk, and that its real pioneer was George Orwell's 1984. At the very least, Orwell laid the groundwork for the genre.

Looks like Peter Dunne is on to something for once.

Regarding Bryson vs 360: And let's not forget the real precedent - maybe 10-12 years ago, a group of cleaners took their management to the High Court for contractorising them in order to shirk holiday and sick leave... and won. That precedent formed a partial basis for the independent contractors' clause in the Employment Relations Act.

Thanks for sharing and bringing your readers up to date with your sons progress at 'integrating' into our hard-with-difference society. We've learnt to be tolerant of race etc but are not yet tolerant of those who are different like my friend and your sons. All the best.
Ironically, we took in Eve van Grafhorst with open arms when Australia ostracised her through no fault of her own. Have we as a nation altruistically devolved since then, or has such spirit always been selective?
And speaking of "anti-corporate films", The Man Sticking It To The Man isn't a new thing. Apple's 1984, anyone?

I’m not OK that the government is losing $2.5b more than expected. I’m really pretty angry about it. But they aren’t doing so because of poor spending, they’re doing so because of lower revenue, and they have lower revenue because of regressive tax changes and not spending to jumpstart the economy.
All the more so when you dig a little deeper into their underlying socialism-for-the-rich mentality - to them, it's only a waste of money if it's going to anyone other than the good ole boys' club. The Holiday Highway is just the tip of the iceberg.

What, no level 85? You'll get ganked. The bitterness.
Now we're talking. Didn't take long either.

More wisdom from the experts from a couple of years back, and still relevant.

-'Go up' to tackle housing unaffordabilityAnd to Richard: from the first article I cited, high-density and physical exercise aren't mutually exclusive:
We play tennis at the Renouf Centre, throw a ball at Wellington High, scoot along the waterfront and swim at Oriental Bay and I don't have to mow lawns. It's perfect.

If only the trucking lobby wasn't running the country we would be well on the way to really making this work now.
Unfortunately we're not the only country where the trucking lobby is used to having its way...
