Me too. Hope you don't think my redacted comment was a slight on you. It was actually about how I met my partner of 20 years. Best shared over a wine though I decided. Nothing too sordid, or even much relevant to this thread, but it did involve my saying 'Yeah, nah' at one stage.

Not much actually. My original reply made sense, as long as you didn’t read past the middle of your link. Saved myself the embarrassment of commenting having decided initially ‘TLDR’. The thing that confused me was the earlier premise that an act of evil with a positive outcome had to be causative and direct, but later on in another version it allowed for that.
Sorry you had to explain things. I actually have thought about this kind of thing a bit myself. Does the end justify the means? Not sure in this case I could agree with that. There is a lot of hatred in the links Russell posted.

Perhaps this is the crux of it. When people turn to cults, gangs and slot machines to provide some form of hope for a better life, Houston we have a problem.
That being said, should we forgive people their indiscretions for some perception of a greater good?

What do you mean by 'become'? I'd say 4 acting or potential MPs turning up to a religious congregation where money was being asked for and tithes being binded was already an electioneering issue.

And Emma, you lasted longer than I could. Trevor Mallard went up in my estimation though. How hard is that notion really to grasp?
Somehow, and I really do think/hope this kind of thing helps, the starting point for these discussions has to change.
Victim blame is an oxymoron.
I've noticed this time is a decided sideways shift from victim-blaming on the basis of clothes to victim-blaming on the basis of having had some drinks.
ETA: Snap-ish. If you start from victim blame, it's pretty much downhill from there, whatever justification you put on it. Living in a monogamous relationship will be next.
