Hard News: 2014: The Meth Election, in reply to
I just wish some of those "journalists" Rawshark left his stash with had the balls to publish.
yes, I hope he dispersed the material widely enough that it will be acted on. Can't understand the delay, unless there wasn't much left.

I think that's very likely. He's had plenty of time to prepare for these allegations, he could've had the counter evidence ready but chose not to, it is close to the election and he can simply run out of time to produce the rabbit, if it exists.

yup, for the first time JK knows he needs to take an allegation seriously and produce evidence to the contrary. If he does, how can we know that it's the full and accurate story though? Given how much he claims not to know and not to want to know.

What if the GCSB analyses data on New Zealanders provided by its 5 eyes partners? In that case JK's claim that the GCSB doesn't carry out mass surveillance of New Zealanders would be (technically) true but Greenwald's assertion that mass surveillance of New Zealanders by our spying agencies is occurring could also be true, because of their analysis and use of the data.

Joyce will have to work on his public persona as anyone who saw him on the Nation a couple of weeks ago will not see him as a good PM.
Bennett isn't ready and I'm not sure she has it in her, I think she's a loyal and hard worker but not a leader.
Dunno about Bridges and Brownlee. Smith is a loose cannon.
I haven't forgotten Bill English's disastrous time as leader although he looks pretty statesman like now. I think you're right, he has the broadest appeal, but I suspect Joyce might have the numbers in the party. -

I totally agree with this Rob. I don't know what we (as a country) need to do about the present situation with the media, but we certainly must do something, and quickly.

ones charged with cleaning it up and it looks unlikely that this will happen especially with a complicit lazy fourth estate.
complicit? maybe
Lazy? perhaps but I think it's much more to do with expense, deadlines, advertising revenue and poor judgement on what sells papers. -

Losing the vote is an additional punishment for prisoners. It is unfair. It also raises questions about people on home detention, can they vote?

the media have legal approval to publish stories based on information they already have. There's no valid reason to delay.
