bugger, simon and his spare time.
-
He also displayed a distressing lack of insight into how the Internet might actually help artists.
That's an interesting statement, here's Chris's web site www.amplifier.co.nz
ie he pretty much started music on the internet in new zealand, but, please do go on, ..... -
Apologise to Sacha
Correct. I include him in my apology
my comment was out of line, late night, a lot on etc. sorry to everyone again.
and Sacha is correct there is nothing shameful about depression bi polar or otherwise. I was not inferring that in anyway.
back to on topic.
and please, please keep it there.
I can honestly say I've tried to do that, and regret my slip to address what I saw as another personal slight.as Gio experience taking the opposition in a very one-side heavy forum is not easy, and the majority here in this debate aren't all that convivial.

Just shut up for a while, please, or at least stay on topic.
i do stay on topic, and its the off topic that worries me.,
but both you and giovanni are right, there are better ways to deal with it.
apologies to PA for my mistake. -
You were outed a while ago in a cryptic manner
russell knew who I was within the first week of me being here, simon did too, I've not denied who I am. I just don't think its relevant.
looking at the last few months of sacha's contribution regarding me I am a little worried. I'm asking if there's a reason for this. its not a pattern I recognise. I'm not being a dick about it, I'm conscious of Finn who I engaged in conversation, and would have done so differently if I'd been aware of his condition. I've been ignoring sacha but its bordering on obsessive. as I said, I don't know the guy, and I don't need to unless its a problem. I'm asking someone to contact me off line if there's a reason, otherwise I'll take it at face value and treat him accordingly.

sacha, straight question, is there something I should know about you to explain you behaviour. bi polar etc, I'm cool with it if there is an explanation, just someone let me know please. I'm not going to engage you on any of this but I can hardly make allowances for someone who is completely anonymous and does nothing to reveal who they are.

I still think you haven't given-up anything for the right of protection for IP.
You were already a member of society.
I could ak you the same question, so I will. what do you give up for the protection of your personal property by law and enforced by police?
My argument is specifically related to 'masters', not 'the song'. Ive stated that above.
So why are patents and trademarks any different? People have to apply for their protection.
My argument is specifically related to 'masters', not 'the song'. Ive stated that above.
patents and trademarks are protection for ideas,
th copyright protection I seek relates to identifiable masters, ie softcell's version of tainted love. I've already stated that above. -
Rob I still can't see an answer to the question of what you have given up to gain the protection of copyright (in contract terms this is called "consideration"....and must be present in ALL valid contracts).
Right here in the first line
to live in a peaceful civilisation I must abide by its rules and in return I get its rules to protect my interests. I answered your question pages back. Please just type a succinct response, no links, no referral, no changing the subject.
:) mate, that is so rich coming from you.

Sorry Rob for swearing, but your comment did annoy me, as you are by now doubtless aware. Although I suppose I could have made good by swearing at Mark for balance ...
thanks russell, I hadn't had a chance to read this before replying above,
consider the situation sufficiently enough defused for me. -
Your characterisation of it was mischief-making. I'm ultimately responsible for the nature of the discussions here and that doesn't help me.
my characterisation of it was not mischief making. Its how I read the thread. he got pounced on immediately for his reading of the law.
what doesn't help you is his calm reading of the situation in the preferred climate of hysteria.
perhaps a better way to challenge my comment was to say something along the lines of, hmmm, "I think the discussion has been quite reasonable", not "fucking bullshit just stop it", which might come across as bullyish, I thought it did. not leading by example it seems.
Graeme's comment were clearly met with less than welcoming arms, that's what I'm saying. I didn't say anyone was rude to him.
I used the word flak as opposed to getting shit, arseholes or any other more aggressive descriptions. The thing I've liked very much about Graeme's comments prior to today's is their calm, reasoned and informed approached. You've liked that when it suited your position but now that he's contradicting the popular 'sky is falling' line he's 'seeing things his way'.
