  • Hard News: Prospects,

On the other hand it might be a good idea if the owner (RB )expunges the whole thread as there is some stuff that can only be explained away by to much booze/disapointment and really does not read well in the light of day!

  • Hard News: Prospects,

Just a thought for the left wings amongst us

Isn't it great that we know who is in charge and we don't have weeks/months of the Winston Peters dance of the seven veils

Surely that cheers you up just a little

  • Legal Beagle: Threshold,

I have to wonder how may were people who voted labour in the past....could see a need for a change but...threw their vote away

Countries that have a low threshold, do they have trouble with stability? Thinking Israel here, any other examples?

  • Hard News: Prospects,

I have always wondered why "treating" is still illegal
What the difference with the things (mostly our own money back)that the parties offer us before an election

Anyway I have voted, went past a couple of polling places to the country school that I went to and have mostly voted at
My wife is on duty there so we have a chat after probably cancelling each others voting effort

  • Hard News: Prospects,

I hope you read this Sofie
"Scrutineers may be appointed by candidates, or in some cases parties, to observe in polling places and during the preliminary count. Scrutineers may wear party lapel badges. They must not communicate with voters. When the electoral official reads out from the electoral roll the line and page number of the voter the scrutineer is entitled to record this.

  • Busytown: I believe in miracles,

The misogyny of the US electorate and media just has to seen to be believed
Hilary, if she had made President (that would have been a really close race) would have had a barrage to face including the taint of her husband
And then there has been the focus on Sarah Palin, remind me who is the VP elect, have we heard a word on him and his voting record/spend on clothes etc etc

I have to say I have admired the grace and dignity shown by both presidental candidates in their speeches
It will be interesting to see if there is as much grace in NZ this coming week

  • Island Life: See Waiheke before you die.,

Fair point but why should I have to pay through my taxes and my savings for two systems
To be honest there does not seem to be any other way to improve the present system which is great for the present oldies but is crap for the future
Not sure if Cullies plan is going to be that great in 20 years time, the thing is these plans do not and cannot create extra wealth
Looking back at the old Labour plan I wonder what would have really happened to the money diverted to it from our pockets..........ideas please on plain piece of paper

As a straight male I have to say that other peoples sexuality while interesting is not something I use to judge people

Although I do struggle with male gays who married so as to appear normal, what does that do to the women they married?
It seems unkind to say the very least

I live and have always lived in a rural setting and it appears that some men don't find marriage something they feel comftable with (they are not drawn to women) so they appear to lead single lives, what they really do is their business...isn't it
