  • Field Theory: An Australian show but a…,

I could be wrong but part of the joy of football chants is that they reflect the game and general feeling of the time, rather than the deathly grip of win or don't show your face around town tonight. That pervades Christchurch. (Away teams follow this rule regardless of the outcome).

[edit: got a bit too much for me]

  • Hard News: The Press, Privacy and The Paps,

As an underage drinker in that great night spot of the Christchurchs 80&90s The Palladium.
I had some sense taught to me by a local boxer.
Milli Vanilli came on and my group let out a collective groan.
He kept bopping away & I made disparaging remarks of the band. He said he liked the music, didn't know the guys & really didn't care. Nothing had changed for him.
That made sense to me & so I started to enjoy the music at that level and got in another round of Chartreuse (which I've never enjoyed).

Not that this is comparable to the delving into personal lives of people who are just getting on with it and adding a little sunshine as they do by making beatiful music.

  • Hard News: Ready for the Big One?,

Christchurch is running an Intro to CD on Tuesday 7-9pm

The big threat as we've experienced is Tsunami. Because it can happen anywhere and still hit these islands.

Poor Auckland has a few Volcanos and the only good volcano is a dead volcano, but they never die.

Now to remeber that crowbar for Plan B

  • Somebody Had To Say This....,

Back in the day we used Teletype machines with a roll of paper = minimal waste.
Now Days in order to print a message TTY/Fax/email you're printing an A4 minimum.
I guess the printers purchased shares in the paper manufacturers and increased profits through waste.

  • Hard News: Dropping the Ball,

Party Central reminds me of the big white tent sited in the middle of a soggy field in Dunnes, filled with Southern men swilling Speights.
OK for a pre-game 'warm-up', but not the place to be for an after match function.

  • Hard News: Still crazy after all these years,

After the next election Garrett & Brash for ACT Party Co-Prezzies (out of Parliment)
Rodney will join National as a list candidate, regain his weight and take up talk back radio.
