  • Island Life: What it don't get, I can't use.,

    Nice one, Mikaere

Actually giving away money is not as easy as it looks

Of course you can give it to"development agencies offering education and opportunity and campaigns against HIV and AIDS in developing countries"

Which sounds good but if that is really short hand for the UN I think that really means you could just go out and piss it against the wall for all the good the UN will do and has done with the billions they have consumed

Mind you the Bill gates Foundation has offeres Rotary International 100 million US dollars if they can match that amount with the resulting monies to be used to try and end world polio
That strikes me as getting the maximium bang for your donated buck

  • Island Life: Abusage,

There was a women on Nat. Radio this morning from Budget Advice or something like that
Her reply to all questions was ‘absolutely’
Drives me mad, drove me mad
I have noticed in certain bad teachers, it is just mental lazyness

  • Hard News: Radio Times,

OK probably closer to cardigain wearing age than most P.A readers, not that I ever have owned one
So, yes all the house and car radios are tuned to Nat Rad
Afternoons are a little mixed, love the Panel when the mix is right
Brian Edwards telling us HK was not spun definitly a classic

But I hate/dislike the way weekend afternoons are run, the parts are mostly alright it is just the way they are put to-gether or the fact it runs from 12 oclock. It just seems to go on forever

Actually brings out the one problem of being of "indapendent means" we don't get weekends

  • Hard News: User-generated Speechification,

    Nice lines Keith and Steve

I am inclined to think we have reach a turning point where we, the great unwashed can, thanks to WWW really reach out and talk to with each other with out going through the choke point of the paid opinionated "experts"
Of course we have always been able to do that on a one to one basis in the back bar of our local pub but now we have a much wider audience
And of course everybody can join in

I imagine the last time anything like this happened was when pamphleting (printing) was on the go before the English civil wars

  • Island Life: Courtroom 15,

    Well done
My wife used to take the school to see the District Court in action, really a good education in civics and a chance to see "justice' in action

I like the thought that Simon Moore (a family freind from Otago days) took time to treat you and the girls well

Hopefully the trip will ensure the girls never end up in Court on the wrong side of the Bench

    Russell
Christchurch and Dunedin are not the wops, wops
You, of all people know that

But I think you will find that even in Chch the next polls will show a swing away from Labour
    Time will tell of course

  • Hard News: The Mood,

I was scoffed at last week when I said that the Labour were out of touch
But that is what it feels like out in the wops, wops

And I will be the first to admit that Labour and the golden weather or at least golden financial weather of the last 8 years has given us, almost all of us a dam good run
But while that was happening what did they do for those at the bottom on benifits or more to the point the middle class who feel they have been taxed and then taxed some more
I am in neither of those brackets but those who are are not very happy, or so they say

    "Time for a change"
When an ideas time comes round it is hard to stop it

  • Hard News: Truck Off, etc,

Anybody see the poster that the "Standard" boys put out
And more to the point were they visiable in the streets

Personally even though I am a RWW (Right Wing Wanker) in most of the PA readers eyes I felt they had a point

Diesel burners seem to get a bit of a free ride from the rest of us

I have to say the overall reaction seems to fit my defination of the current scene "Sick of the present Government" so lets have a change

It may not seem fair but this whole thing was seen as a demonstration against an out of touch bunch of ...... fill in the dots type leaders

It is not a good look for Labour

  • Hard News: More light than heat,

Just got Free to Air and it was a pleasure to see you in action Russell
    Good show and well run
I do have to say I expected that of you but it was really good

Pity it is not longer and that there were no breaks but that is the medium

    Well done!
