TV3 blew their 'Live' building demolition coverage - first they were saying it was going to be live on TV3 - not the actual Television though! Their streaming was so so sluggish it missed the actual demo - I had them and TV1 side by side on the computer - TV1 was great, caught the whole thing, TV3 went from a standing pic frame to the dust coming up from where it hit the ground, no collapse sequence at all... Mr Loiseaux can we go again?
Wasn't quite of WTC7 proportions - smaller footprint and 30 less storeys, no pyroclastic-like clouds of dust smothering the city, meh! -

for The Perseid meteor show...At the moment, Perseid meteor rates are low--no more than about 10 per hour. In the days ahead, however, Earth will plunge deeper into the comet's (Swift-Tuttle) debris stream, and meteor activity will increase accordingly. Forecasters expect the shower to peak on August 12-13 with as many as 100+ meteors per hour visible from dark-sky sites

Late night session (of course) at Avenue Cinema, Riccarton, Chchch - the perennially paired Polanski double bill Cul de sac and Repulsion - Catherine Deneuve, has just left the dead bunny on the kitchen bench and is in the bedroom (or was it a bathroom), she casually swings a mirrored door shut, and you catch a glimpse of someone standing behind her - everyone in theatre leaps in their seat, sharp intakes of breath, pulse races and never really slows again - welcome to deep disturbia...

Shirley Temple matinees on a Saturday afternoon somewhere near Papanui in Chch. Where would it be?
That would have been the Barclay (1965-75) originally The Empire and a Hall before that
It was at the top junction of Papanui & Harewood roads and Main North Rd (I think) I also think the trams used to terminate near there too - some more history.I went to a few pics there, and in Edgeware, Barrington St, Sydenham, Brighton as well as the Square (plus Odeon and Majestic) - lotsa dodgy 'Uncles' compereing matinees - aah Saturday afternoons (and some mornings) flicker.. flicker...
