Not really - Noel Leeming's are selling notebooks for $999 that'll run Vista on 512 Mb. It's not advisable - but with 1 Gb and a cheapish video card it should be sweet.

Ah, but the headshots!

I'm just posting to see if my Gravatar finally got updated..
.. And yes, there is a good reason _blank was dropped: it's an obnoxious way to link - especially since you've all got a 'open in new window/tab' button a mouse click away.
On the topic of Mac browsers - what's the deal with Camino being completely useless? Surely the marriage of Mozilla practicality with Mac's supposed ease of use would give a far supior experience. Not so!

The boomers have got us into a nice little hole. Residential property is seen as safe only because they all want to buy it. All these people with 3 or 4 properties gaining in value only because everyone else is being equally bloody minded about it.
If they'd put their money into something that actually produced (ie, companies, stocks, funds, anything!!) then we'd have a big fat cash injection to our 'real' economy. There would be higher returns for them and cheaper housing for those of us starting out.
So - once enough of those boomers have died off, a political party can introduce a capital gains tax without committing political suicide... because you know it's going to be murderous to the market when that happens.

...in the hardcore punk circles where it emerged, there's a understanding that anyone who falls will be helped up, that no one really gets hurt.
Sure sure, back in the good old days right? :P

...wouldn't be surprised if the figures still showed something like that, but when was the last time someone checked instead of just writing it?
I choose to blindly trust the first google result when searching for obscure facts. Abdicates the responsibility for being right.

Which meant we caught a little of Tool, I'm sorry, but: I. Just. Don't. Get. Tool.
RB -- trolling your own blog? :-P
Apparently New Zealand is, per capita, Tool's biggest selling market. What does that tell you about kiwis?

Can I just say that for all of the Green's "maypole-dancing, beancurd-eating, bicycle-embracing" image (quality editorialising by the Dom Post there), and ACT's business-at-all-cost policies, they're the only parties that wear their hearts 100% on their sleeve. I mean: they actually believe that what they say is true! Unlike National who consistantly say what they think you want to hear, and Labour that avoids saying anything substantial at all.
Though I voted Green last time round (gotta maintain that 5%), for the above reasons I'd vote ACT long before the Nats, Labour, NZF or UF.

Would you believe - New Years eve in the Whitsunday islands: the rain that started to pour at 10pm would have ruined things, if the stomach flu and migrain hadn't already done the job. Probably caused by excessive drinking on the previous 17 days in Sydney and Brisbane.
