Sometimes a you'd come across a great squat in a nice location. My cousin and mates opened up an old 16 bedroom Victorian boarding house in Kew, really close to the gardens and station. They took down the hoardings, gave it a lick of paint and worked on the garden. The neighbors came over to thank them as they saw the abandoned property as an eyesore and potential fire hazard. The squat probably raised their property values. Eventually the HKSB opted to sell the property and everyone was moved on, but in the meantime they'd actually cared for and protected the property. It really is a shame to see this law pass.

Thanks for the post of my tune. It's great to see the spike in listening stats whenever you post a tune. It's really encouraging. Thank you and thanks to all of the Hard News fans who give it a listen.

Hey! Thanks for posting my tune Russel. That's great. I've been genuinely suprised to see my music going up the charts on theaudience, and I really appreciate the support.
Regarding freegal and the Auckland Libraries... If freegal is taken away as a cost cutting measure, will they also take away the CDs? Maybe Freegal being ousted would create an opportunity for theaudience to have portals on the library computers - supporting and profiling local musicians as well as getting young people through the door.

Hard News: What did you do yesterday?, in reply to
Turns out Dubhead had something to do with it...

After a lovelly garden party to celebrate a one year old's birthday, the family and I ended up at the beach in Pt Chev... Which was heaving. Some thoughtful chaps had even turned up with a wee sound system and were playing out some awesome old school dub. When we left it felt like we'd been at a free festival. Great day.

Hard News: The Waterview Bore, in reply to
I thought the Waterview Tunnel included a restoration and beautification of the Oakley Creek walkway?

The Causeway is planned to be completed before the Waterview Tunnel and the next section, the Te Atatu Interchange is expected to be complete soon after.
The Causeway will be raised by 3m (it has sunk by 2m) and will be widened, including better pedestrian and cyclist facilities.
The whole Western Ring Route will be a great peice of transport infrastructure - but unfortunatley more cars will fill it up and we'll be in the same congestion that wea re in now. Roads arent the solution.

Hard News: Switched on Gardener: to what…, in reply to
I wouldn't trust any official statistics on quantity of production and distribution by individuals vs gangs. I have observed though, that anyone who wants to get marijuana in NZ generally can, and that most of it comes through friends of friends of friends, not gangs.
