The issue at the top of people's minds tends to be copyright over source material (though possibly trademarks have led to more court cases).
Incidentally, a recent thing that probably failed the reasonable-person-would-get-it test which I think would apply in a defamation case was the matter of The Stench.

I imagine the indemnity would be the (court-ordered?) one referred to here http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PO1208/S00532/dotcoms-revenge.htm - whether it arose from or was signed in awareness of the GCSB being involved I can't say but I gues the English timeline fits.

Isn't the "wisdom of the crowd" when you put something out there, and if someone kills it dead with credible argument, you listen?
(I think the actual argument there is that the application of the standards probably averages out. But whether *that* result reflects the students' progress or the quality of the emergent standards...)
I think the editorial is actually referring to being able to draw useful conclusions from a mass of data points, which is called, um, statistics.

I notice Stuff is referring to 'bugging' which is a bit confusing. Given the PM said it didn't require a warrant [I read 'wouldn't have if he wasn't a national', but who knows with John Key] I assume it didn't involve placing a device.
And: based on the press conference JK didn't know this had come up through the court case. I can't help thinking that omission will be worse for the GCSB from his point of view than the original offence.

In July 2013 about 130,000 people will move on to the new Jobseeker Support, of which 78,000 will have been on working-age benefits for more than 12 months.
Wasn't sure how much of the system that captured, but based on the public service goals:
reduce the number of people receiving the working-age benefits that will become the new Job Seeker Support (JSS), continuously for more than 12 months by 30 per cent, from 78,000 to 55,000 by June 2017...
Under Welfare Reform changes, from July 2013 JSS will include all those on Unemployment Related Benefits, Sickness Benefit, Domestic Purpose Benefit (DPB) Sole Parents whose youngest children are over 14, Widows with youngest children over 14 or no children and DPB Women Alone.
I know 'continuously' isn't identical to 'during the last ten years', but 12 months is also smaller than a decade.

I'm guessing Armstrong didn't call Gordon either. And if we're running by the rules of accuracy, I actually don't think there's much ignorance of the realities of journalism from Gordon's corner.
