Ditto for Monoke that reminded me in parts of some weird post-apocalyptic sci-fantasy cartoon I saw when I was a kid that disturbed me deeply (think somewhere between The Dark Crystal and Pink Floyd's the Wall
That would be Wizards then.

Thanks Venetia. I was wondering what Andrew was on about.

As this shows (and as has been the case in the past) the winner of the 200m is often faster.
I assume that you're doing the maths of multiplying the 100m time by 2 and seeing that it is more than the 200m time, and equating that with the 200m runner being faster.
The 200m runner is doing 100m (standing start) and then 100m (flying start), so it is not at all surprising that it has a faster average speed.
(I must admit if I was looking for the fastest man in the world I'd be looking at the orbit speeds of manned space missions).

Hadyn blogged thus :
Valerie Vili beat the world record holder and the rest of the field with four of her five throws
Actually, the silver medallist, Natallia Mikhnevich (Belarus), beat two of Valerie's five throws. But she was the only contestant to beat any of Valerie's five throws !
Truly awesome.
I agree, Gold is always better than a Bronze.
I don't understand where this "Willis showing the Africans" meme comes from. There were only 3 Africans in the final, and one of them got the Silver. It does not make any sense at all. The gold medallist was from Bahrain. The fact that John Walker won his gold medal in 1976 when the Africans were boycotting the games can't have anything to do with it, can it ?

1 dead American ≈ 2 dead Europeans ≈ 5 dead Asians ≈ 50 dead Arabs ≈ 1000 dead Africans, and so forth.
Stuff.co.nz world section today :
Hundreds flee as Grand Canyon floods
Three die in NSW snowfields
Five dead in UK light aircraft collision
Baghdad suicide bomber kills many
So, for New Zealand media today we see that :
Americans in danger >= 3 dead Aussies >= 5 dead Brits >= "many" dead elsewhereWhy can't NZ newspapers sift out the news that is important to the American domestic market, but has little or no relevancy here in NZ ?

Oh and we are lucky if we get coverage of team sports games like the hockey or the basketball. Such teams will have to make it to quarters and semis for us to watch them I suspect. But them's the breaks.
TV1 had almost* full coverage of the NZ men's hockey first game against Korea. It was great to watch. They came back from 0-1 down at half time to win 3-1.
Cheers,
Brent.*Live cut to swimming at one point to see Moss Burmester in his 200m butterfly heat. He managed a respectable third. TV1 totally ballsed up the live cross to chat with him afterwards. And the inane questions - on and on - arghh ...
I'd rather they just showed the sport, and did away completely with the talking to people before and after the events.

While I completely understand why you'd do that Matthew, isn't it sad that we have to think like that, rather than actually voting for the candidate we'd like to see win, no matter what their chances?
That's what STV would do for us ...

it transpires that apparently Obama supporters prefer Starbucks! [snip] So I guess Russell will be disappointed.
Well a local cafe cannot possibly win a nationwide poll ...

The thing that struck me the most, was the producer totally ignoring Russell's excellent question on why they showed the picture of the dead, partially clad 12 year old at least 12 times. I would have thought once (maybe twice) would be sufficient to give the idea.
This gratuitous use of a young girl's death I find repugnant.
But the producer totally ignored the question, and continued to try to justify his use of psychics by the tenuous fact that some people have come forward with new information after seeing the programme.
That is irrelevant to both the use of physics, and the glorifying of death.

You should replace "all other" with "the other known" in your Fact. This allows for the possibility of a planet larger than Jupiter orbiting beyond the Kuiper Belt.
