Hard News: Again: Is everyone okay?, in reply to
Oy.Yeah, that is worrying.
I think you could make the Welly one a fundraiser too - there's enough of us here. (I arrive back from Samoa that night. I'll make it if I can.)

what a fantastic idea, Russell – although it does make me giggle just a little bit to imagine David trying to fend off all the well meaning hugs
Actually, at Emma’s 2 weekends ago, Me, Emma, and Isabel all insisted on hugging him (as congratulations on Polly’s arrival.)
He seemed to simultaneously love and hate it. It was adorable. I got to play with Bob too.

I’m thinking that we should do a Great Blend or something up here and raise money there. Stay tuned.
I'm in. Especially as I won't be able to be at the Welly one, if it goes ahead <shakes fist while looking slightly embarrassed at immense self-involvement>.

To answer my own question before, Emma and family are OK. They're at home, and have no power and water, and little phone battery left.
I asked her if she needed details of where to get water, and she replied "pumping station...is pissing out potable water".
So very Emma.

Man that Haywood chap can write.
My birthday present from Emma arrived this morning. I cried in front of the courier guy.
Glad to hear from Lilith (who we just met a couple of weeks ago), and everyone.

This is not political sniping, this is politics.
This isn't politics. This is a massive disaster. The Prime Minister has just been on TV1 saying 65 people have died. Talk politics all you like, but please don't do it here.
