Details, Peter? Please? For those of us following this from Númenor?

Calling John Key something like, "Mr Smile and Wave" contains a political comment within the name. Calling him "Jonkey" is like shouting, "Yah yah yah. You've got a stupid name."
Yes, it's mild in comparison with what the sewer handed out to Helen Clark. But that doesn't seem to be a good reason to do it.

Jonkey
Ross, I vaguely recall the first time this soubriquet was used here that some of us asked that we not go around making up dismissive names for the Prime Minister (a la the sewer's treatment of Helen Clark), and since then, I haven't seen it used here. It would be nice to keep that tacit agreement in place, no matter how much we disagree with his actions. FTR, I am not a John Key supporter, at all.

Thanks, Pat. And webweaver.

Congrats to Amanda Gillies. The money question, and the money quote.
Are you able to give details, Pat? Or a link?

All for one, one for all, look after their own, support scholarship for non masons, as well.
Hmmm.... I applied for a masons scholarship once. They asked me why I was studying, and was I planning to have children any time soon, and would that interfere with my studies.
BINGO, I thought to myself. Then... what shall I do about this...
I responded by saying it wasn't an issue for me, because we were infertile. That shut them up.

(mind you we marched for the right of parents to belt their children with jug cords and wooden planks, and the the right of wealthy interests to effectively buy elections, what the hell?)
Who is the 'we' of which you speak, Millsy? Not anyone around here.

I would say Robyn Malcolm is at a loose end and has been to a degree used as a willing and witless pawn .
Surely you're not saying that she's a "useful idiot"?

@Dean Parker
All you have to do to prove that Russell's claim is not true (and I suggest you think carefully about whether you want to go on record as doubting his integrity), is find a press release or a newspaper report of one of the other screen guilds supporting Actors Equity in this action. That might be a bit better than logging in here for the first time ever with the sort of accusation you are making.

I think Thranduil's in there too (who we shall meet in The Hobbit).
Only mentioned very much in passing, as the ruler of the Woodland realm in Greenwood, which later became Mirkwood. A bit like the female characters in The Hobbit. Mentioned in passing, with not a word to speak nor an action to take.
