Well, I got naked on Thursday, but that was just because god told me to. I'm not quite sure which god it was, but he was 20m tall, armed and very angry, so I thought it best to just do it.
I'm just going to assume that Damian was publicly naked at some point during the weekend, so that's three out of eight...

Thanks everyone! I'm sitting in a pitch black internet cafe at the moment. The power's been out for half an hour. The UPS closet down the back with a dozen car batteries is keeping this baby going. Funny how the internet connection is still up.
1) Burger was alright, actually. The sauce was vaguely Indian. I still missed the fried cheese burger (as in a burger with a slab of crumbed, fried cheese) in the Czech Republic.
2) Had photos, but they sucked.
3) You're right Charles, it was minor news for everyone else. The Bangalore papers took it very seriously, though.
4) Yeah - fingers are being pointed at the communist opposition. Like the good Orwellian that I am, I don't believe in actual "proletariat revolutions". I guess I'm only suggesting that there are many angry people out there, and as you say Verpal, there are always people ready to take advantage of that.

(Slightly late in the thread, but hey:) Heroes is awesome! It's the first show since Lost that's been able to pull off this degree of intrigue, and on an unashamedly sci-fi premise. Has there ever been a sci-fi show that's this mainstream?
And speaking of PVRs, has anyone had experience with TV cards that captures digital signals? Does anyone know what you will need to watch NZ digital TV on the computer?
I'm planning to build a Linux media centre box. Tried to set one up before using an analogue TV card and MythTV, but the reception was bad and all that MYSQL crap you had to set up for MythTV drove me insane.

I would like to thank my sponsors, the Asia:NZ Foundation for making this trip possible.
They paid for most of my flights, but apart from that, I'm pretty much paying my own way here. I'm fairly cheap to run, and India's cheap to be, so it's a good combination. (And, of course, I gorge at these conferences where they feed us.)
And yes - it was Nick Robinson. That's a good cartoon of him on the blog.

Joined the scrum for WTO Big Cheese Pascal Lamy today. Gordo B will be up soon. Will post recording later, if it's not too crummy.
Not that you care, because you're all asleep right now.

1) Thank god the duck is okay. I was getting pretty worried there.
2) Yes - there is a glaring lack of Chinese speakers, which is interesting. It seems to be a wide mix of "non-aligned countries" plus the UK. The line-up says something in itself, at any rate.
3) Can't make it to the Aussie lunch, unfortunately. Hangin' with the Canadians. Curious about why the Aussies sent their attorney general, though.

Wow. Progress. Who's have thought, eh? 8-)
Hey wow, TV3 actually has a website these days, too.
Now, will somebody please do something about TVNZ's site?

So Old Granny is putting on some hotpants and moving into the 21st century.
Their comments page is still stuck in the 19th century, but hey, with brightly coloured boxed highlighting pictures of cheerleaders in tight... whatever they are wearing... how could they go wrong?
So what do YOU think?
(P.S. Site works perfectly in Firefox on Linux. Big ups to the developers.)

And please excuse Jarrod. He's from Coruscant.

Dude. That Coddington woman's on your ass. She has a letter in the new Listener claiming that you are the one who is "mistaken" about statistics, repeating her hilarious whoopsie about Asian crime rates like it was a burning insight and generally hatin' on you.
Heh, I actually sent her an email with detailed rebuttal. I just figured that people were getting a bit tired of reading the same statistics being rehashed over and over. Still, there's a good bit on her dog whistling, so perhaps I should post it after all... I'll see if she responds first.
Maybe we should send you a copy. There's a gripping cover story about 'The New Way to Solve Stress' according to "two Wellington psychologists". One of the shrinks says "You can have a fabulous house and a BMW, but you can still be unhappy," which is like so insightful.
Hmmm. I'd like to test that theory. Being a corporate whore at the moment - $2/word. $2 per soulless, sell-out word. So, so sweet.
