  • Hard News: How much speech does it take?, in reply to Rich of Observationz,

I doubt most of Kiwibleurghs readers get there by clicking through from Public Address.

No, but links on here will certainly raise its ranking in Google. But I don't think it's really worth worrying about that much. If you're concerned, it's better to signpost your links with comments. That said, if there's genuine hate speech there, I'd agree with Gio and leave it be.

The main thing that puts me off Kiwiblog is not what they say about topics, but rather the highly personally threatening tone the writers take towards commentary they disagree with. It doesn't frighten me, I doubt any of them are anything more than blowhards, but it makes it impossible to have a sensible discussion.

  • Field Theory: All Blacks v South Africa…, in reply to giovanni tiso,

It was a different game because it was over. If the Wallabies take any heart from having 'won the second half', they're toast.

I disagree on both counts. A 17 point lead isn't really that much in rugby, can be reversed in 5 minutes. And beating the All Blacks for half a game is something only a handful of teams can do, definitely something to take encouragement from.

But, of course, the All Blacks will be learning from that too. And, naturally, thrashing Oz is a very good sign.

By one point. After losing the first half by 17. They got trounced.

Yup, but it was just a different game to watch in the second half. A much better performance by the Wallabies, many lessons for both teams there.

    Tough at the top, innit?

Very. I'm nervous that the All Blacks are peaking too early in the season again. When Oz got going, they were very hard to stop, and read the intercepts well. It's going to be a good season.

Which is a pity because Oz actually won the second half.

    Does the devil take credit?

ALL credit is the devil's work.

Ps. Go the All Blacks! Can I say that?

Only if you mean it with all your heart. If I find out you're a sneaky 'Boks supporter, there will be hell to pay.

I've got an old Canterbury All Blacks shirt that will serve. I got an official beanie for $20, but that was mainly because it is actually a good beanie, and my head has been getting cold. $90 for a shirt with All Blacks written on it? Get real. I'll be wearing a Polar fleece over it anyway, most likely.

  • Hard News: The Orcon Great Blend 2011 in…, in reply to Russell Brown,

I quite liked it ($20), but it's very linear -- exact same high all the way through.

They're not all the same, the range of effects is much greater than I've ever experienced with the real thing. The duration seemed in general much shorter.

I was also a bit surprised at how expensive it was.

Yup, much the same as actual dope. Price warring did seem to be beginning, just before it was canned. I got 3g of one for $15 from the diary which was superior in every way to Kronic at twice the price/volume.

I thought we were going to have to turn the hoses on the last hundred stragglers, so deeply were they dug in.

Sorry about that. How quickly I forget that other people have jobs.

Seeing the usual suspects was great, but I especially enjoyed seeing some new PAS people (to me). Bart, Recordari, Tony Siu, Sam F, and at the 11th hour, Rich Lock.

Rich, I'm embarrassed to say my Ki was not sufficient to detect the presence of a master Aikidoka not 2 meters away from us as we discussed martial philosophy, hiding inside a humble saxophonist.

Nice also to meet Jen Hay and Polly (what an angel!). David, you've mindfucked me - every time I see ministers of finance now, their heads look all out of proportion.

Emma, sorry about the dire nightlife of Thursday night Auckland. I don't know where the fantasy clubs are, and all the other ones won't accept Wolverine's older, less-hot brother.

Russell, only you could possibly fail to score legal highs in Auckland. You're not missing much, though.
