But its not internal democrat feuding, its the rules that they all agreed upon that were clearly based upon their party constitution. That is the thing I like about US political parties, at least they make some pretense as to having respect for constitutions and keeping decisions in the public eye.

Numbers seem to close for a unity campaign - aside from party unity where is the incentive to be the compromising party?
Re someone's (Craig?) comment about bringing back the party of Regean or Goldwater, screw that, lets bring back Rockefeller Republicans.

I was in Manchester and was rather impressed by a couple of new buildings - the Hilton Hotel and the Manchester Civic Justice Centre (aka the Filing Cabinet).

The Democrat's general/convention constitutional rules that underpin the Florida/Michigan no delegates decision are pretty explicit, although it might be possible to amend that ruling. I am fairly sure that a strict reading of the rules say that a change would have to be validated by the next Convention (although that bit did seem a little unclear when I read up on it a couple of weeks back).
Either way it seems to be a burn the bridges type decision - just based on the reaction of a couple of American but non political (but with the inevitable political threads) forums when Hillary started making noises about this when it looked like she was going to easily dominate Michigan. If the Democratic faithful do not have a serious split over a successful rule change then you can bet the Republicans will latch onto it like a hungry dog come the campaign- what better way to alienate the (already possibly suspicious) independents?

I signed up to a recruiting agency in London that had the cheek to ask on their signup form if the applicant had ever had a conviction wiped (or more correctly "spent").

Well much as we all seem to be apathetic/angry towards Waitangi Day it could be worse, it could turn into an Australia Day clone.
Although perhaps boozed mobs painted with the flag, silver fern and whatever clause catches their fancy could be kind of amusing.
