  • Cracker: Go Figure,

The United Tribes flag appears on the reverse side of NZ Anglo-Boer War medals. So an official nod to it back then.
Anyone know how many Maori went to the Boer War?

I like Hunterwassers flag but really don't see the need if we don't even have a constitution or a republic.

That said, and just to be obstinant, we had our flag first in 1869 and a Kiwi was part of the winning team to design the Oz one for 1901.

Better still the red stars scare Yanks

@Alien, I'm not sure that this manufactured crisis wasn't part of the plan to then sell off these crown jewels.
Yes I know the rule "Cock-up before Conspiracy", but this is so bloody minded.
The change to an Auckland Law firm must be about the ill will in the establishment regarding Henderson, Carr, Parker.

On paranoid fruitloops and nut bars, you can add Ken Franklin, Director of the Christchurch Art Centre (past employee of Mace Developments - the guys who built Princes Wharf, that answer to Aucklands water front open space, cruiseliners terminal, and hotel - what a success that wasn't http://www.aucklandwaterfront.co.nz/ )

PRESS STATEMENT Thursday 4 February 2010

Save Our Arts Centre Outraged At Allegations

"Save Our Arts Centre is outraged at the bizarre allegations by the Arts Centre Director, in yesterday's Christchurch Press, that SOAC is responsible for or connected in some way to bugging rooms or hacking into Arts Centre files" today said Dame Ann Hercus, spokesperson for SOAC.

"We require an immediate apology and retraction from John Simpson, the Chair of the Trust Board, and his employee Ken Franklin. Neither the Arts Centre Trust Board or its Director have ever approached SOAC with these bizarre allegations, but let me say categorically

SOAC has not bugged or asked anyone to bug Arts Centre meeting rooms nor would we ever do so
SOAC has not hacked into nor asked anyone to hack into Arts Centre computer files, nor would we ever do so
SOAC have absolutely no wish to acquire illegally gained information, nor have we any need to."

"Further, we insist Mr Franklin of the Arts Centre Trust Board takes appropriate and immediate legal action against any person or persons who have bugged their rooms or hacked into their computer files. We ask him to do so urgently, and then release all relevant information to the media. Hacking and bugging are both very serious allegations and activities which may carry criminal penalties. SOAC naturally wishes to see any person illegally hacking or bugging charged."

The point being that the small pox vaccine had done it's job and now the risks involved in this vaccine were no-longer warrented or required, but still delivered, hence admin error.

  • Cracker: Of Racks and Ratings,

The Press today cut-&-pasted Alice Thomsons rather nasty piece on scarves. She judges others by her own standards and projected her own animosity to the wearer of this clothing as being their presumed contempt for her own style.

Scarves are still to be seen in the pews of my church. I really don't see the problem.

I shouldn't be surprised but The Press spelt her name wrong from a cut-&-paste item.

I loved the Day of the Triffids two-part show.
A nod to Seven Crosses with the talented musicians swan dive in the first show, the corruption of Eddie Izzard (I though he should have been the Mother Superior), the theme of wanting the world to be right, and hope for a tentative future.

A family friend almost died and spent the rest of her shortened life in a wheelchair after a bad batch of small pox vaccine.
Wonderful person and small pox had been taken off the OE vaccine list but not off the doctors list.
Ultimately an admin error, just need to be aware vaccines do have risks.

Although the title is missleading this story is a good news story and well overdue.
