  • Muse: Rugby World Kitsch,

I’m not not up in arms about the waka plan, but it does seem poorly executed in comparison to the other projects you’ve criticised.

I keep imagining the brief: "Okay, we want an auditorium that's at least five times as deep as it is wide. Also, fully one quarter of the audience must be positioned behind a post".

  • Hard News: Locking in the Future,

    Um why?

No really this is a serious question. If it is necessary can anyone explain why?

    According to the NBR:

The minister also maintained that without the 10-year " regulatory holiday, or "forbearance period", investors would "price in" the risk of Commerce Commission interferance - driving up pricing.

See, obeying the rules might cost money, so... ditch the rules! Because that's what the Commerce Commission does; inflate prices.

And maybe one day he'll relent and re-release the original TFA: my old vinyl copy is pretty scratchy now.

    Don't hold your breath. ;)
In the meantime, there's a brilliant-sounding HDCD (unreleased so-called "test pressing", apparently) floating around, should you be inclined to look for it.

  • Hard News: Limping Onwards,

I lurk, and make up speeches in my head which are models of persuasive argument which I never post because they're not really.

Don't forget that posting such a speech is often a great way of finding out exactly what's wrong with it. ;)

  • Hard News: Fridays are still for the music,

Another Neil Young archival release from one of his country phases.

So, '84 & '85 concert dates with the International Harvesters.
Grey Riders was stonkin' (and maybe others). Some of it's maybe a little on the trad side, for me.

I'm really looking forward to Archives Vol. 2 ( Time Fades Away 2, Chrome Dreams, Homegrown, etc.) :)

  • Hard News: Limping Onwards,

I have a pretty sharp sense of how much we are missing intellectuals of the calibre of Pier Paolo Pasolini - we need somebody like him desperately.

Well, you've have been nominated. How about making a film?

  • Hard News: Chasing the Trans-Pacific Express,

Mighty ape have the AD185X for $90.

    This seems a problem:

Please note: Freeview Compatible = Limited EPG function[. I]nstead of showing all TV programmes in next 7 days, it only lists TV programmes in the next 3 hours.

  • Hard News: Chasing the Trans-Pacific Express,

UPDATE! Woo hoo! It looks like these cheapie AKAI boxes work if the country is set to France (must be a similar channel layout to NZ).

That's more like it! (though the AD181X now seems to have been replaced by the AD163X, the AD174X...)

Very interested to hear for sure whether these work.

    New Jersey?

  • Up Front: Where You From?,

I found the bloke who was willing to take out his teeth and eat an pie, and organise a string quartet to play in the Arts Centre.

That's quite an unlikely talent... ;-)
