Never engage with tweeny girls.
I've found music a life saver with young female cuzzies in the family. When the 13 yr olds find out that you genuinely like and own some Kanye and Dizzee Rascal (as compared to their parents) they warm to you and you have something to talk about. One of the 16 year old cuzzies decided to do an assignment on the Ramones because she'd heard some at a party and liked the look and sound. She was over the moon to discover we had the first 5-6 albums, book references and a DVD or two. I've since managed to push her on to all sorts of classic punk such as Television and Wire.
I find it strange when parents my own age or even younger diss their children's music, setting up that whole generation gap thing, it can be a great way to keep in touch.

Thanks everyone for the espresso feedback. We'd hoped for the Ariette to last us a bit longer as we'd have liked to upgrade into the E61 Rocket/Domobar range but the timing's undone us.
The Rancilio sounds like a pretty good option. Any recommendations for a retail outfit that will rip us off less than others in acquiring one of these?

As of this morning I may need a new espresso machine. Any recommendations for units under $1500 much appreciated...

Haydn, you just wrote a very long post about mens' clothes. Just thought you should know.
Dude loves his clothes, it has to be said.

It's hard to remember a time when they really were.
June 2004 until November 2005 from memory. The sloppy display against Scotland at the end of the GS was a sign of things to come, even though there were several impressive wins in 2006. 2007 definitely had a sense of staleness creeping in to the performances.

Now, the failing coaches got a second chance, which is all fine and good. Not sure why Mitchell didn't get it, nor why Deans didn't deserve a go. Especially in light of the arrogance shown by Henry et al.
Presumably because Slaphead was mad as a maggot channelling board room strategy meetings fed through his own personal Martian antenna. Deans was some kind of Dr Evil sock piuppet using Mitchell to create a 100% Cantrified AB team.
Henry probably looked like an A Grade selection in comparison. And still does.

Plus it's all well and good so long as you don't start bandying around the 'best team in the world' tag, otherwise it becomes a tad parochial to limit the search to this corner of the planet.
No, let's include the rest of the planet. Who would you pick? We're not RWC holders and don't deserve to be. But we are the best team in the world right now, no question.

There almost seems to be a concerted effort in being the best team in between World Cups. Now, I'm not saying that it's only the World Cup that counts, but surely it's too early in the cycle to judge either Deans or Henry, no?
I think Henry is our best available coach and I don't believe he should have been sacked. In fact, by not sacking him we finally broke the stupidity cycle of automatically sacking our coaches after each RWC failure. The fact is that it's rugby's only knockout tournament, one average game and you're gone. Any team, no matter how great can get chucked out and that's what has happened to us.
It's a sad fact that Henry has had one average year as the ABs coach and unfortunately it was a RWC year. It was planning for the RWC that made them do things differently and it failed to pan out. Although even then we were still capable of winning the thing but we came up against a weird game from hell as per Russell's comments.
No, I'm pleased we stuck with him and as far as I'm concerned he's proved the better coach vs. Deans this year. I'm also hoping that we keep some of this coaching team's experience going into 2011 as what they learned the last time may prove invaluable.

Freaks and Geeks Freaks and Geeks Freaks and Geeks.
F&G was da bomb. Sort of a longer fleshed out Dazed and Confused which I also love for it's chilled stoned flavour, irredeemably rawkk soundtrack, and the possibility of a world where the jocks and geeks can get over themselves for a night and just get along.

It also has a spoken word interlude, which I believe qualifies it for 'O for Awesome' status. (In our household, songs are considered to be officially awesome if they have spoken word interludes...
Word.
