"What say we get a sea lion for our house? That be nice. Ha ha, I just jonking you! [wheeze, snort, honk]."

that made ME wheeze, snort and honk. thanks for a lovely post.

as to the kind of car they'll be driving, my hubby frightens me by pointing out that there are some pretty powerful cars which will be just about the right age / price for a first car when our two year old is driving. yeesh.

  • Speaker: ReEntry,

my husband and i have now been home from the UK for three years. my main observations are a) how peculiar it is to feel homesick for somewhere that isn't your home i.e. london (where we lived for four years), b) how surprised we were about how long it took us to stop feeling homesick for london and wishing we were still there and c) how glad we are to now be living in new zealand with a young family, good jobs and our extended family around us.

we enjoyed our time in europe, very much, but the life we missed there wouldn't have been the same once we started having children. we wouldn't have had the same income or the same social life. when i first became pregnant, for us, it was time to come home.

  • Cracker: A Halloween story too cute not…,

i'm firmly in the bah humbug camp, i'm afraid. standard practice at my house has become to put a hand written sign on the front door that says "no trick or treat sorry! shhhhhh baby sleeping".

well, that's what i wrote this year. last year i had just managed to get said baby to sleep, an hour or so past what would have been desirable, and a bunch of very noisy kids pounded on the front door of my small house. i was fuuuuuuuuurious. so furious i ran up the street and gave their parents a telling off (at least the parents were with them i suppose) and then put a sign on my door saying "no trick or treat! go away!".

i don't mind kids having fun, but can't they find a kiwi way to do it instead of this wholesale adoption of americana?

  • Up Front: The Innocent Sleep,

I'll find myself standing in the bathroom holding a meat tenderiser, with no idea what I was doing.

ooh. sympathy. that sounds .... sorry, got no adjectives. sounds difficult and bloody inconvenient.

i can't say i'm a fellow sufferer. if i'm very stressed sleep is often the first thing to go but generally me and sleep are OK, aside from normal toddler-induced sleep deprivation.

on the other hand, thanks so much for the post because i think i've got a mate who might like to know about DSPS. she's a shocking sleeper and i'm pretty sure all her attempts to find out why have met with not much help at all.
