Steven with regard to McDonalds and a prison population of 2 Million.
Both are disposable and a waste of resources. The friendly hosts will all be kiddies (non threatening) or women (available).
There won't be any real men in them.

The various links claim pellets are the cheapest heat.
This is just fraud.
74% of woodburners & 52% of open fires use free stuff.
(cheers for the link David)As good as pellets might be, they're still omitting particles and a conversion to pellets will be expensive and only delay the inevitable.
Lets skip ahead to electricity and put the fires out in christchurch.
PV for the houses and make them mandatory in rented accom. -
Canty air kills.
Hidden in the bowls of ecans website (yes I can't find it right now) is a health report stating 1% of deaths and 3-5% hospitalisations of people in winter months are directly attributed to Christchurch air pollution .
We need to start from zero particles and I'm sure our communal obsession with cars will fill any remainder.
Dear old Windington doesn't have this prob - Go Makara! -

I've got a handle on Marx but by Marxian Rural idiocy = Blind obedience where all desenters must be permanently silenced?
Thus presenting a united and terrifiying voice. In it's time prison was kinder than death. The prison pop growth was ugly and so sent to America and after they got uppity to Australia and a colonial white oppressive system was born.
High ideals by which to keep the others down indeed.Marcus
It's pretty clear Brown disadvantage exists - just look at the variation in mortality rates. -
If they can they'll soon change the laws retrospectively so they don't have too.

All pollution is compliant until ruled otherwise.
The arguement for compliance over best practise will lead to disaster at a slightly slower rate.Stevens point of new markets for once 'free' goods brings up that Canty Elephant we all ignore. Free water for irrigation, exported as milk to the world and leaving a stinking shrivilling mess behind.
Rural infrastructure paid for from water may be one answer. If the practise is nolonger feasible in Canty after than - oh dear, how sad, never mind. -
Where's Dad 4 Justice when you need him?
Prison surely is a waste of time.
Unless someone is an actual danger to society why use it?
There are far more effective measures out there - like serious fines and excessive lengths of PD. These both occupy time and repay debt rather than create a burden for the tax payer.
Not to mention the danger and criminal networking able to be avoided.Remeber that kid killed cause Mum & Dad wanted him to be taught a lesson.
No prison sentence should be under 3yrs and anyone serving less time (the vast majority) shouldn't be there.
Imagine if our illiterate pop got taught a few skills - maybe we would have a more productive and safer society? -
A prob of biomass is that the concerntration of pollution in an urban area will degrade air quality in winter months - especially in Christchurch.
-
Nice one David
Biomasses concentrated release of pollutants to be counted as neutral is problematic.
The timber used is exotic with a faster life cycle than indigenous timber so an acceleration in growth is an acceleration in green house gas production as well.
Better sure but neutral? -
We have always had moral panic.
It's ultimately not about the youth, it's about the changing perceptions of the old - the bifocals and viagra.
The denial of aging - like over 30's speaking for the youth of today!
If 'I' haven't changed, it's must be them - blame the youth (if you can see/catch them).
